Thursday 13 – Thirsty Thursday

  1. I started my day off on the right foot; got some cleaning done in the kitchen and a couple other maintenance-y kinda things done before I even left for work. Go me!
  2. I vacillate between being really irritated about still having to go to work and being calm about it. Yesterday changed things; my boss called me in to talk about a minor discrepancy on my time sheet and we talked about my job search. I left his office not feeling like I wanted to hide out or not show my face. I was, after all, going to leave here anyway, just on my terms. And only one person knows why I have to go so I just hold my head up high and keep on keepin’ on.
  3. I did give myself a break today: leave at 2:30 to run minor errands (return something to Home Depot and buy a light bulb for under-cabinet lighting in the kitchen) and I may take my daughter to Target for a new bathing suit. Hers doesn’t fit and she’s already been getting pool invites. I have GOT to get mine open and chemicalled; it’s so green. Which is normal but this time might be a little tougher because I waited. Oh well.
  4. Headed to St. Augustine this weekend and I am excited because Ash and I always have fun on our little weekend excursions. We eat and visit breweries and sleep in and it’s generally a nice time.
  5. Last night we saw Boy Kills World which was exceedingly violent and… just OK. Story-wise, not too bad. Execution, at times, downright awful. I’m not sure what it is but I can’t really get into Bill Skarsgard. He was pretty good in this (mostly because he doesn’t speak) but I don’t know; I guess I just always liked Alex more. I went to IMDB to see how many As he has in his name and there was a little scrolly thing for “trending stars”; besides him and Zendaya, I had no idea who those people are. And I was just saying how I could name all the big actors and actresses in the 80s and 90s and now I don’t know who’s big.
  6. We’re probably meeting friends for drinks later tonight. We were going to last week but they couldn’t make it and then, we decided to save the money. Drinking out IS way too expensive these days; I can’t believe they can charge 8 dollars for a pint!
  7. But on that note, we have been eating at home almost exclusively AND we didn’t drink Tuesday or Wednesday. I definitely feel a lot better. As I said before, you gotta start somewhere.
  8. We’ve also eaten pretty good meals – meat and veg mostly. I’m going to blow that up today though because it’s pizza for dinner. We have a gift card to our favorite place that Ash won for coming in in the top 5 for his work’s team in the last race. So hey, free money I guess.
  9. I just completed my Title IX and workplace harassment modules for my online jobs. They require it once a year and it never takes long but always feels like a slog.
  10. It’s getting warm here but not unbearably so. Mid 80s, and I started to notice that the AC came on this morning and that’s how you know that the temps have upped because normally, it won’t come on downstairs until the heat has been happening consistently. Summer is indeed coming.
  11. To that end, I am excited to see my first firefly of the season. It’s usually in May so I have to keep an eye out.
  12. I just spent an inordinate amount of time chatting with someone at work I previously, well, disliked. I mean, I think I still do but we had a very nice little talk. If she hadn’t mentioned how sick to her stomach she gets at the mere mention of Trump, I could probably say I did like her but omg, get a grip. You’re a grown woman; don’t let that bother you so much. For those people, Trump lives rent free in their heads and I cannot understand it.
  13. The funny part was that before she came in, I was watching one of my youtube political commentators and I think if she’d seen it, our convo would have ended right quick! LOL. Anyway, there’s your 13. Happy Thursday, folks!
