Wednesday ‘Podge – Rainy Day

1. What’s a talent you wish you had?

I wish I could read and play music. I should have started earlier on in life. The closest I get is the video game, Guitar Hero, and I love the idea and feeling of it but definitely don’t know too much about it.

2. In one word, what’s your state of mind right now? .

Interesting question because I am on the one hand, motivated and content, but also, a little frazzled. Almost like the fractured and worried state is hiding right behind the feeling of “I got this!” Ash has been a huge help though because he’s being very supportive right now.

3. What’s the next major purchase you need to make? Will it happen this month? This year?

I mean, we have a few different things we need to do. Once the roof is paid off we need to look into a new AC unit. Before then, we’ll probably work on a new fence. But we will see how things go.

4. Tuesday (April 2nd) was National PB and J Day…did you celebrate? Is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich something you eat weekly or more? What’s your favorite kind of jelly?

I love a good pb&j, though definitely did not eat one Tuesday. I probably have one 4-5 times a year, so long as we have white bread, which is rare. I like grape jam but I am ok trying others. Because I had that pb&j burger recently, I am thinking about making my own at home. But I want it to include candied bacon, which I have never made so that’s my next project.

5. Are you easily intimidated? Who or what intimidates you?

I would not say easily but I definitely can be. People who seem terse or insanely intelligent but not socially tactful intimidate me, especially if they are in a position of power.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Well, for those who read my cryptic post last week but not my follow-up on Thursday, you can read it via the link there. Essentially, even though I had been planning to find a new job before next Session, my boss basically encouraged me to find another job. I guess, to them, I am not a good fit here and you know, maybe it’s true. I may never really know all that went into their decision – I thought I was doing well – but hey, that’s ok. I do believe sometimes things are meant to happen a certain way. So each day I look at job boards and apply to things I think would suit me.

My mom asked what I want to do and I honestly don’t know! I can and will do whatever so long as the pay is comparable. I have been applying to admin type jobs at various state agencies. I know I can learn any job but I need to be given the chance.

It’s a stormy kind of day and I decided to drop my daughter off at school then get gas, so I was a bit late getting in. I have leave so it’s not a big deal, but I can’t do that too often or I won’t have too much! There’s not much to do in the office now except work on my other online classes and look for a new job. I read, play little games, learn about new things, etc. I guess I should not complain at all!

  1. Being able to read and play music is something I would love to do, also. My problem is that I don’t persevere and stick to learning something like that. Interesting outcome with your job. Hope you find something that works out better for you and pays well. Happy April to you!

  2. I liked reading your answers. That sandwich sounds interesting. I like PB in my yogurt. Sorry about your job. Praying you find the perfect job soon. ((Hugs))

  3. intelligent but not socially tactful…” Interesting thought. Yeah, that can be a scary combination.

Job hunting can make for an observant but anxious time – all the introspection plus the not knowing where it’ll end up.

  4. Guitar Hero is not such a bad starting point – my son is now a talented drummer who got his start playing Rock Band. LOL Yumm, I love a PB&J burger and haven’t had one in such a long time. Hope you have a great week!

  5. I do hope you find a job that is a good fit for you. I’m sure there’s one out there and sometimes these changes are blessings in disguise. Wishing you a great weekend!

  6. I think sometimes we can all have that underlying feeling. :/ I’m sorry about the job…though you were planning to find something new, it’s not always fun when the bosses encourage it. I do also hope the right new job opens up. One that’s a great fit for you. I just went and read your followup post. That’s hard when, yes, you were already thinking of leaving, but when we feel like our qualifications, or other aspects are being questioned, we can feel less than, or as you put, embarassed.

  7. I should add, I have had that happen. I was working for a chiropractor and thought I was doing a great job, but after a few weeks he said he didn’t think I was a good fit. It was over 30 years ago, but I remember being so confused, because I thought I was doing well….it was also hard on my self esteem. But, I did find other work until I had kiddos. After raising them, I needed to go back to work to help our income and that was scary…i hadn’t worked in 17 years, who’d want me. Thankfully I found a job that worked with our schedules (helping an older lady), and now work for my son in laws aunt. But gosh…it’s nerve wracking trying to find the right fits because I’m a firm believer in enjoying where you work and what you do.

    1. Thanks. It may not make a lot of sense but I do appreciate hearing how other people have gone through similar things. While it doesn’t “fix” my situation, it makes me feel a lot better. I believe I will find something; just have to wait until it’s time!
