MMMM + Weird in-between times

For once, I didn’t think “Ugh, gotta work today.” I have this odd desire to actually DO work because I know there’s only two days here this week. I even put in a couple yesterday! (Before beer and football.)

Anyway, let’s go back. On Friday, I left here at 3:45 and went to pick up a Boston Butt I got for a co-worker’s fundraiser. Went home and put it away then made cornbread. By about 5:45 we were headed to our friends’ house for a chili and karaoke party. It was a little weird because we were the first ones there but it kind of worked out because we hadn’t talked to them in a bit. As folks showed up, it became more relaxed. We didn’t start off singing right away but one of their coworkers seemed to be a seasoned vet so she kind of eased us into it. Ash and I sang a Blink 182 song to start then it became a whole sing-along atmosphere, since they had 4 wireless mics. So in the end, it wasn’t as nerve-wracking as I thought it would be and actually pretty fun. I was worried I’d made too much cornbread but that got all eaten and with high praise so, yay!

Saturday, I woke up with a sinus headache but managed to get myself going on tidying up around the house and then, running errands. I got most everything for Thanksgiving, with the exception of potatoes and the pie ingredients. I made the pork (It was not nearly as good as the one our friend smokes for us), along with mac and green beans. We had a bottle share with the homebrew club planned for 2 and at first, it was just us and one other guy but then five more folks showed up and we had a nice time, tried some good beers. I was super tired that night and went to bed early. I’d been needing to catch up on sleep!

Sunday was very similar in that I got up and worked on things, such as laundry and logging the beer cans. Made burgers for lunch, took my requisite Sunday afternoon nap, and we walked in the evening. All in all, a very nice weekend.

I have to bust my butt to get editing done because right now is the soul-crushing time. We draft and edit like crazy until Session starts and then we wait for amendments. It’s not as busy but no less stressful. But for now, I am buried under about 17 drafts. Working my way through them as quickly yet efficiently as I can. I can do it!

OK, here’s just some random songs I’ve been enjoying.

  1. Although, I don’t work outside the home. I stay plenty busy enough to where I look forward to those long weekends and I’m glad this is a short week. Thanks for joining the dance party. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving, darlin’!

  2. Like Cathy, even though I work from home, I really look forward to actually ‘unplugging’ from work for a few days – *really* looking forward to the upcoming 4-day weekend! πŸ™‚ Great song choices – it’s been a minute since I’ve listened to Toto! πŸ™‚ Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  3. I only work part time but I am still so happy on days like this when I was super busy, but after work I could take a walk in the park before it got dark and then plug myself into music. Both songs were great, especially Toto’s. Alana ramblinwitham

  4. If I sang, all the dogs and cats from the neighbourhood would be coming to see who is singing love songs in cat. Lol. Enjoyed the music

  5. I use to work Chicago Downtown Loop at a Law Firm on Wacker & Randolph for about 14 years. and I’m glad I’m retired. Just the train trip there and back was a lot of work running to the trains was a lot of excercise… hehehe but I’m retired now… and what happens… back surgery… SUCKS! Anyway, I wish you a very pleasant relaxing holiday my friend, and oh by the way…. YOU ROCK!!!

  6. I am retired now but can remember working days..
I am however always busy and find it hard to realise how I actually found time to go to work!

  7. I’m looking forward to the long weekend too – it does make the two days I work this week almost “fun”.
