MMMM + The Time Change is the Worst

I know many people don’t mind this one and sure, it was nice to get an extra hour, but I am finding it difficult to adjust. I enjoyed the brighter light in the AM but I will hate that when I leave later, it will be DARK.

The weekend was pretty nice, actually. It began, in my mind, Thursday night. We headed to a local pizza place for the end of season celebration for Cross Country. The boys won the championship for the middle schools, second year in a row. So that was cool. We sat with another couple whose son is on the team but who we know from Ash’s work already. It was a nice time, actually.

Friday I worked and only took off a little time so I could just get home and relax. I helped Isaac with a bit of the mowing, made food for kids, then Isaac and Ash went to a movie. Meanwhile, Dakota and I went to Target. I tried not to buy a lot, since I didn’t need anything, but we got some things we needed.

Saturday, Isaac had an 8 am game and of course, we got crushed. It’s a travel team and we know the boys on it; they’ve been good for years. Sadly, our best player was sick. The next two teams they played were totally beatable but not without Luke. Oh well; it is what it is. My kids hardly ever get on good tournament teams. They dominate in regular season and crumble in tournaments, for some reason. At least Elliot’s team won one last year and Isaac got a good win in about 3 years ago but for the most part, they do poorly in those. We went to Sonny’s after and then Ash and I brewed a red ale. Once that was done, we had a fire outside and talked to the neighbor until about 9. Nice day overall.

Sunday was rushed but I managed; got up and had coffee then went to the store. In between some tidying, I made a spaghetti sauce, took a run, then assembled my lasagna. Went to Isaac’s final game, then while we were gone, Elliot cooked said lunch. Got home, made garlic bread, and ate just before football came on for the day. I got all the laundry done, drank some decent stouts, and then we walked in the evening. I thought it was about 8 pm when we got back from our walk but it was only 6:45! That’s the stupid time change for you. Ugh.

It’s cool again this morning but our high is 80. We are in special session so it’s gonna be about a 12 hour day and we can’t really leave the building for lunch, though I had planned on it. Sigh. I did plan ahead for the kids, at least. I got a Publix street taco kit and left reheating directions. I had better get used to all that! I’m feeling the crushing stress of having to make payments for 2/3 of the kids’ field trips this year. Isaac goes to Universal and D.C. and Dakota also goes to Universal. Let’s put it this way: it’s A LOT.

  1. I prepared myself ahead for the time change, otherwise it’s typically a shock to the system.
Congrats to the cross country team!
Wow, your kids do some hefty field trip$

    1. The time change sucks but I hate the spring one more. That one really messes with my head. They need to stop this and just leave it like it is now. I’m someone that loves to see the early sun. I know, I’m a rarity for that. I am always amazed at how busy you are. I would be way too tired:)) I wouldn’t listen to this music but I always liked Alice Cooper who is very intelligent and seems kind.

  2. Gaining an hour overnight is helpful for us night owls, but the early evening darkness truly sucks. 😛

Congrats on the cross country success! Your kids’ other teams (which sport?) sound a lot like my beloved hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs – great in the regular season, then fizzle in the playoffs.

Expensive field trips! Hopefully, everything will work out well with the payments.

Thanks for the great videos! I LOVE Alice Cooper and am enjoying the new album.

  3. We thought it was 8:00 last night . . . and it wasn’t!! I don’t do well with these dark nights. We actually have plans for every night this week which will help with the transition.

  4. I don’t like that it gets darker sooner but I adjust pretty quickly. Our weather pattern is going to be warmer compared to last week before it cools down by the weekend. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with us today. Have a boogietastic week!

  5. I wouldn’t last a day with your schedule but maybe you’ll be a lot more energetic than I am when you turn my age because of it. I am also not a fan of the twice a year time changes. As much as I don’t like early darkness, I think I would be happier with year round standard time. I know, though, that I am a minority. Alana ramblinwitham

  6. Hey Girlfriend, Sorry I’m so late it was a full day of doctors appointments and other junk!!! Anyway, oh yeah ALICE COOPER!!! LET’S DANCE… oh yeah! I remember those days for sure! Now as far as Spring… time change it blows… I hate it when it gets dark and it’s not even time for the news… sheesh! By the time bedtime comes around you think it’s almost the next day!!! Anyway, HAPPY ALMOST THANKSGIVING!!! 🙂 TAKE CARE MY FRIEND!
