MMMM + What even is time?

Somehow, this summer is passing so quickly. I dropped the kids off at camp this morning and told them to soak it in; only two weeks left! Granted, we go on vacation for a week and then we have couple days of nothing before they go back to school. But STILL… going too quickly for me. In some ways, I don’t mind because it has been pretty hot and that makes us lazier but I also don’t mind it sometimes. This week it is rainy so that’s good for overcast skies and my AC working less but bad for getting out. It especially puts a damper on walking, which I’ve been trying to do more of.

Anyway, I left the office at 2:30 Friday and met the menfolk at Bumpa’s for lunch. Pretty good too. We just sort of hung around until it was time to get our daughter from camp. We watched a movie, I think, but I can’t remember.

Saturday was our original day to can the rest of our beer at 2 and then we had plans to meet up with a couple friends. But the day didn’t actually go that way. I woke up with a headache and it took me a bit to get going but I forced myself to. I went to the pool store and then Target, Fresh Market, and Publix. Dakota went with. By the time we got home, I was feeling better. We had sandwiches/salads for lunch and then I found out that we had to cancel the canning session because the guy holding the beer for us at the brewery didn’t carbonate it. Sigh. Guess that was ok because then I cleaned and did other stuff around the house. Dakota had a party at 6 and we know the parents so we were going to do a small bottle share, except it didn’t go down that way because no one can get their acts together.

But that’s ok; we made it work and sometimes you just deal with peoples’ mistakes and take it as a sign to chill.

Sunday I got right on laundry and cooking; my plan had been to make two lasagnas and freeze one and that’s what I did. Ash was working on a new music computer (for our DJ system that we have tailored for parties) and my daughter was recovering from her sleepover. We did end up hanging out with our friends at 2 then in the evening, we showed the kids Flamin’ Hot which is a movie I highly recommend.

The weather was weird on Sunday; sunny at sunrise, then rainy, then bright sun on and off with storms in between. Normally it stays overcast but it was the brightest sun in between. Around 3:30 we had an insane storm with crazy hurricane-like winds. Very weird. It’s also rainy today, which doesn’t help me to feel motivated at all. Guess I will just bang away at the keyboard for a bit until my brain catches up.

OK, songs about summer vacation? Sort of? OK, I pick:

  1. Summer is passing us quickly. Not that I’m complaining but I really don’t like winter and I know that’s not far off. Thanks for sharing your weekend events and for joining the 4M party. Have a boogietastic week, my dear!

  2. Well, these were fun to listen to. I’m not one for the dead of summer. If I was by a pool with a Pina colada in my hand, different story:)

  3. “Dakota had a party at 6 and we know the parents so we were going to do a small bottle share, except it didn’t go down that way because no one can get their acts together.” The story of my life: can’t get my act together… Good songs!

  4. Ah, always expect complications and the unexpected. Especially if I’m involved, but I digress. The Boys of Summer is one of my favorite songs ever, so true, so bittersweet, and the video did a good job on the essence of the song. As for the second song some days I could wish for a pool and a beer, but I would be too lazy to travel to Mexico. Alana ramblinwithm
