1. Tell me something you remember (or if you’re not there yet, something you look forward to) about being 35.
Hmm, interesting question. I looked back through old posts to see if any one captured something about my life then. Mostly, I was entrenched in parenting; I had a 7 year old, a 4 year old, and a 1 year old. I was busy! And overwhelmed!
2. Last time you ‘burned the candle at both ends’?
Oh, for sure during Session, I tried to do All the work and do ALL the extra things too and it ran me ragged.
3. Are you someone with the ‘gift of gab’? Elaborate (which shouldn’t be a problem if you answered yes teehee).
I’d like to say yes. I am good at speaking in front of people and when I have had a beer, I am very chatty!
4. Do you request a special meal on your birthday, and if so tell us what that meal is? Do you want the same kind of cake year after year or will any flavor work? Do you want cake at all? Growing up were birthdays a big deal in your house? Are they a big deal now?
Not necessarily; we typically go out and the birthday person gets to pick the place. I’ll either pick somewhere with a huge cheeseburger or hibachi.
As far as cake goes, I guess a chocolate with chocolate frosting is a mainstay for both me and my husband. I also put cake as my #1 when it comes to the sweets/desserts tier rankings.
I don’t know if I’d say birthdays were huge growing up; my parents made them special but it wasn’t like, THE be all-end all of your life. These days, I do like mine and appreciate gifts and all but it’s not amazing.
5. ‘Age is just a number.’..agree or disagree? Tell us why.
I do agree because in your mind, you are just you and it isn’t defined by some made up thing we have – and by made-up I mean, we associate certain things with your age and I don’t think those apply across the board. Like, after you hit X age you can do Y. That is arbitrary. In your head, you’re whatever age you feel.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
It’s summer and I know things are supposed to be more relaxed but, um, they are not. Yesterday I came right home and started on dinner then ran some errands, took my son to the gym, transferred one beer and pitched another. Today is no less crazy: dentist later then a couple errands and then Ash and I are going up to Quincy to see the building the guy’s working on re: the brewpub he wants to start with us helping as brewers.
I’m really looking forward to our vacation at the end of July because then, I will really and truly be away.

As I’ve read your blog, I’ve definitely thought you were burning the candle from both ends during Session. I’m glad you made it through!
If you lived closer I’d sell you our beer equipment. Don’t tell my husband I said that. I enjoyed your answers. Hope things smooth out for you. Cheers!
The brew pub sounds like fun. Enjoy the summer. When kids are in the house every season is busy, but at least summer can be a different sort of busy. Whenever I read here I’m reminded of the days I spent in the car taking kids here, there, everywhere. I have to say while I miss having kids at home I don’t miss that lol. Take care! You will have earned your vacation!
Yes, it has certainly seemed like you do a lot of burning the candle at both ends – I’ve noticed that as I’ve read your Hodgepodge answers over the past several weeks! Glad you’re able to relax a bit and enjoy the summer now. Have a great week!
I’ve not enjoyed a hibachi dinner in ages. Must change that!
Looking forward to hearing more about the brew pub.
Enjoyed your answers. I have never necessarily felt like summer was a “slow down” season..my girls played club soccer, we homeschooled, so it just seemed like all the seasons ran together. Sure we did more outside. We didn’t often vacation during summer because it was expensive. So because we homeschooled, we often vacationed during off seasons, at least til HS.
