So it’s not really random but it is a smattering of things from the weekend that was and in my case, I had four entire days. As noted, the House Speaker gave us Friday off so of course, my weekend began Thursday! Got home after work and we had plans to meet at the arcade place with the girl scouts. My middle boy went to a friend’s house and we took our daughter to the meet-up. That was pretty fun, just chatting with the other parents.

Friday morning, I set ZERO alarms but of course still woke up before 7. I just don’t sleep in anymore. Anyway, I began on some cleaning and waited for Isaac to get home because he had a fingerprinting appointment for his summer volunteer job. We went to the pool store and figured out what chemicals needed to be added, then I made spaghetti for lunch. I worked on the pool throughout the day and other various things. Ash had a business-type meeting at 4 and then he went to play cards with friends so I took Dakota on a pretty long walk to the playground. That was nice though; needed the exercise.

On Saturday, the weather got all cool again; I’m talking low 60s! It was fabulous, actually. We made burgers for lunch and had some beer and I honestly cannot remember what else we did. Oh yeah, I sat outside for a bit. Dakota got in the pool even though it was a bit cold. I think we watched a movie? Honestly, cannot remember. I was having too much fun just not working!

Sunday was a different story. I got up and began tidying up then went to the store for Pub Subs; we had to eat prior to going out on our friends’ boat. We met at their house at 1 then caravanned down to St. Marks where they dry dock. Boat was ready almost exactly when we got there too. We headed out to the sandbar, anchored, and just hung out. It was really nice, actually. It was their family of five and us four; Elliot chose not to go but he says he’s not friends with their son anymore. I don’t know; I think it would have been fine. I was kind of mad at him for not going though. We got back into town around 6:30 and chose to have dinner at Smitty’s (a second chance, as the first time was so-so) and it was much better. But I was tired and a little worn from the sun too. While eating dinner, got a text from my friend asking us to come over Monday; last minute plans of course.

So then Monday I went began laundry then went to the store for green beans, which is what I decided to bring to the party since they made chicken wings, brisket and my other friend was brining mac and cheese. I did it up right with bacon and those beans went fast. My oldest was like, “Mom, why are you brining a vegetable? No one wants that.” But he was wrong. The day was fun and most everyone in that friend group came so we played backyard and pool games and I think we were home sometime around 7:30.

It was a looong weekend but a highly enjoyable one. I’m kind of glad for the quiet of my office today. My middle and youngest started summer camp today and he’s working; a counselor in training. Just volunteer time but he can eventually be hire on in a pay position – I think – when he’s 15 or 16. It’s basically minimal work and free camp. My oldest, meanwhile, has an interview at a restaurant Wednesday so fingers crossed! The boy needs money and something to do. Anywho, time to get started on paper grading.
