MMMM + Shortest Weekend Ever

Man, I really can’t believe Spring Break week went as quickly as it did. I really utilized my time to grade some stuff but I also failed to get a few other obligations accomplished, which I only just realized. Crud! Oh well; I can catch up. I am pretty good at working under pressure.

SO. My oldest kid had to stay with me Friday morning and then we went ahead and did our half day as normal, just with a 4 year old in tow. He went to lunch with us and then we saw The Lorax. And then we napped. My parents got into town around 6 and we had dinner and that was pretty much it. Saturday morning, Ash and I woke super earl for the race. Let me tell you: Worst. 5K. Ever. I knew it was hilly but man, I just felt awful. My legs hurt, I was nauseous. It blew. But to make it a wee bit better, Ash felt bad too. And to put it in perspective, in January, he ran 13.1 miles on a Saturday and then 26.2 miles on Sunday. Yeah, over 39 miles in a 24 hours period. And yet, a 5k kicked our asses. He didn’t reach his time goal and neither did I. But on the plus side, I feel really  motivated to get back to my normal running and I want to go go back to 10k training. Six miles is a wonderful distance. 3? Not so much.

Saturday continued on with a birthday party for one of Elliot’s friends at 10. It was at the bounce house place so, naturally, it was chaotic and draining. While the kids napped and Ash played Madden, my parents and I went to the produce market and drank beer. In the afternoon, we sojourned to Costco and made a big steak dinner, followed by strawberry shortcake. And I was asleep on the couch by 9:30. Somewhere in there, we watch FSU basketball. Go Noles!

Sunday was slightly less stressful: bagels, playing outside, Mexican lunch, and more basketball. Laundry, Target. Tired. We were all just so tired. Hence my ginormous coffee today, though my stomach has been gurgly and unhappy for days now. Le sigh. All in all, good weekend. I cannot really complain.

I’m not that big on female artists, honestly. But if I have to choose, I’m going old school.

Kathy Mattea – Going Gone. Old school country. I stole this tape from my mom when I was young and played it over and over,

Gloria Estefan – Always reminds me of living in South Florida.
