I love the fact that I typically get into my office around quarter to 8 and have time to sit and blog; catch up with the web. But today’s a holiday so I sit here with my french press coffee and an egg bagel and try to keep the kids from being too loud. My walls and doors are like paper and I know my husband went to bed late; he was playing a game with a friend and they don’t often get to reconnect that way anymore. So yes, my weekend wasn’t so bad, but I tend to dread 3 day-ers because I do get a wee bit exasperated with the kids. Elliot especially. I’ve no one to blame but myself’; I get bent out of shape pretty easily.
On Saturday we attempted Costco again (kids did better this time on the snacks I gave them but they still have reached and age where they just don’t want to hang out in the cart anymore) and we picked up one of their rotisserie chickens for lunch. Deal of the century right there! Their chickens are huge and only 5 bucks. I whipped up some mashed potatoes and corn and we feasted. I should have napped while they did but I read Lothaire instead. I had to stop when my eyes started to blur (damn ipod reading) but I would have read another two hours, given the chance. SO GOOD. The rest of the day was dedicated to football – crappy football. Stupid Saints.
Sunday felt easier than most because of the three day weekend so I didn’t stress about much. We took the kids to the playground around 10:30 and it was nice because there were hardly any other people there, and those who were, had kids younger than ours. You always want to have the older kids. I utilized naptime to run for the first time since the half; I did roughly 4.25 miles at a decent pace (probably under 10 but my watch wasn’t charged.) Good run. Then we finished up the day with even crappier football (Packers, you ripped my heart out; I hate the Giants!) But my night ended with more reading and snuggled up under blankets.

So when I got married, in 2005, I had no idea that the main song we danced to was actually sort of a cliched wedding song. I knew Etta James’ At Last only from the movie Pleasantville and as I wracked my brain for a song that would allow Ash and I wanted to show off our dance skills, er, I mean, lackthereof, this one came to mind and I chose it. But regardless, it’s a good song. You all know it.

Hope your day off today ends up less stressed than anticipated. 😉
Love that song – it’s the perfect slow dance song. 🙂

What a great song! Oh, and your weekend sounds like a nice family weekend. I always liked those weekends the best. Not overly crammed with things to do.
Whoa! Now that is one hot number. Really puts you in a very mellow mood. Fabulous. I would’ve loved to see you two dancing to it. Have a great day & see ya next week for our FREEBIE THEME. Have a great week.
I hope your sigh contentedly at the end of today.
LOVE the song.
Thanks for linking up with us!
I think this is such a sexy number! I bet y’all burned up the dance floor with it, huh? Thanks for linking up & sharing your wedding music with us!
That song At Last is so cool. It was played at one of my friend’s wedding. I should have played it at mine because I thought I would never get married.
Every time I come over here and read you, I wanna go for a run. UGH!
