WWTK Wednesday – post Halloween edition

PhotobucketI’ve been sort of bad about my Wednesday blogging but since I am putting off some actual work, I’m participating today!

Hosted by the above and Crazy Mama and Queso.

{1} How did you celebrate Halloween? Trick or treating? Adult party? Trunk or treat?

We drove out to a friend’s neighbourhood where she makes chili and we play games with her neighbours and then we did the Trick-or-Treat and hayride combo thing, which always ends up being kids actually running house to house after the first few times of getting in and out of the trailer.

{2} What candy is your favorite/the first thing you steal from the kids?

Maybe it makes me sound like a snob but I go for anything that is more like top tier candy: the Almond Joys, Heath Bars, Reese’s Pieces. Not this mini-Snickers/crappy lollipop BS. ๐Ÿ˜‰
{3} What kind of candy do you give out, is it your favorite? or something you know you won’t be tempted to eat?

I tend to get one chocolate and one sweet/sour candy. Usually Peanut butter cups and Smarties or Pixie Stix. And I will eat it so it’s a test of my will-power! (I didn’t hand out candy this year OR leave it in a bowl. I actually just straight up forgot to buy it!)
{4} How soon after Halloween do you take down decorations and put away costumes?

I tend to leave it up a few days but since I was home yesterday with the littlest one, I put stuff away. But mostly because the car wasn’t in the garage and I could easily access the bins.
{5} When do you decorate for the next holiday?

Depends on which holiday you mean ;). I tend to put a different round of Autumn stuff up for Thanksgiving, including my village:

My mom brought me some Yankee Candle Fall decorations this past weekend so those will go up soon and then in terms of Christmas… well, it depends on that first day when I feel the mood. You know what I mean? Sometimes it’s hard for me to feel that holiday spirit, especially if we’re really busy. This year we have to buy a new tree (yes, we have been artificial for 5 years now) so it’ll be when I have money!

  1. WE are heading up to get a real tree this year from the mountains. The last two years, with Bruiser being little we had an artificial tree. In some ways it was easier, but I missed going and tramping through the woods to find the perfectly imperfect tree.

  2. I know what you mean about having to be in the right mood for decorations – Usually after Halloween stuff comes down, I put away all of my autumn stuff and start bringing out wintery decorations – not necessarily the Christmas stuff yet, but I start to go “blue” – wintery colours, etc…But last night, I packed up the Halloween stuff and left out the gourds, leaves, pumpkins and things like that. The weather’s still so nice here, fairly warm for this time of year, and I wasn’t ready to think “winter” yet. I’d love to decorate for Christmas but I have to stop myself for another few weeks!

  3. Oooo, I love Almond Joys too! Lucky for me (and my waistline), Jimmy is such a chocolate fiend that he usually gobbles up all the leftovers before I can get to it anyway! And I love your Thanksgiving village – we don’t have nearly enough Thanksgiving decorations around here.
