Weekend recap + MMMM: In the year I was born…

Ash and I are both kinda broke so we didn’t do all that much this weekend, even when Elliot whined that he wanted to “gooo somewheeeere”. I ran a decent 8 miles on Saturday morning, leaving by 7:40, giving myself a lot of time in the good weather. I’m halfway done with my 12 week training, which means my race is a mere 6 weeks away. Somehow I worry that the 29th will be here before I know it.

Aside from that, we grocery shopped and hit the playground and watched football. I was sad to see FSU lose but we DID put in a QB who weighed 125 soaking wet, so what did we expect? (Though he played OK, I have to say.) Sunday was Ash’s day to run and mostly, I cooked. Steak, mashed potatoes and corn for lunch, crockpot chicken for dinner. A good beer on the deck once the kids were in bed. I watched about 20 minutes of the Emmys; long enough to catch the Lonely Island medley, which was delightfully insane. I don’t watch enough TV to really care about awards anyway.

I got into work early today and I am hoping I can keep up this momentum. How was your weekend?

This week’s theme is songs from the year you were born. To be honest with you, there are a lot of good songs from ’79. I’m digging it. Let’s see which ones I REALLY like:

Peaches and Herb – Reunited. This is what my husband calls ” romp muse” – i.e. music by which to get it on.

Doobie Brothers – What a Fool Believes. I loved this song for quite a while. It’s a groovy tune.

And who can omit Michael J.? He is such a force in music. Don’t stop, don’t stop ’til you get enough, y’all.

  1. Oh my gosh, Peaches & Herb I love those guys! What a great song too! Haven’t heard them in eons! Love it! Great choice. Thanks for playin along and if there’s a theme you’d like to do just let me know. I know today was fun for everyone including me!

  2. Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting on my 4Ms post. I often hear Reunited by the Peaches and Herb in radio stations whenever I ride a cab and I was singing along w/ it while watching the video. (I had to play it in youtube though, your page says I can’t stream it here).
