{1} What are 3 must-haves for a long road trip?

I’m gonna go with water, a blanket (because I always get cold in the car), and music, though that now depends on when we leave with the kids because if it’s nighttime, we keep it quiet.

{2} What was the destination of your most recent road trip?

I guess it was around July 27th, we drove with the kids the almost four hours to my parents’ place outside Orlando. And then the next day, we drove the about 45 minutes to Daytona Beach.

(My sister and her bf, my dad, and then us. Mom took the pic.)

{3} What do you miss most about home when on a trip?

My mom’s guest bed is REALLY comfortable and I always sleep like a baby BUT, I miss the comfort of my own room and  the way my fan clicks and how loud our A/C is; those are just comforting to me.

(That’s my actual bed.)

{4} What is the furthest you have traveled on a road trip?

When I was a kid, my family and I took long car trips with my grandparents in their ’56 Lincoln from Palm Beach, Florida all the way up to Western New York, about a few hours East of Buffalo. One year we went to Maine as well. OH! Wait a sec! Between 8th and 9th grade, I flew with a friend to her dad’s in Canada and we drove back so technically, that was the longest car trip.
{5} Will you “stop for the largest ball of twine, etc” or are you a “hurry and get there” road tripper?

I myself like to get there in the shortest amount of time possible. But if we have to pee or get food, I’m OK with stopping. But I always feel a little anxious to start driving again and just be there already.

  1. Wow! You’re a road trippin’ pro! I’m definitely a drive straight through kind of person. Good call on the blanket – that is a definite MUST HAVE!

  2. I know what you mean about the blanket! I had that problem last summer when we went to MI, half the time I was freezing in the back seat and ever-so-grateful that my brother had forgot to leave behind the blanket his carpoolers left in the car!!

    1. I used to tell the girls I wasn’t stopping til I needed gas so get the pee all out now or suffer (I filled when I got to half a tank). The reason I did that is because when they went with their dad they had to pee by the time they got to the end of the block. LOL

I don’t mind exploring though (which is good, I get lost a LOT) so we make adventures out of the goof ups.

  3. i totally get cold in the car too! it drives my husband nuts because I’m always messing with the temperature lol…and i LOVE that you took a pic of your bed, that’s true love right there 🙂
