Thursday 13 – Random question and answers

I have this bookmark that I found through StumbleUpon with a lot of journal prompts. I could obviously write entire posts about each but for the sake of today’s Thursday 13 post, I will answer them briefly. I used the random number generator and didn’t cheat it, even if I didn’t like the question!

1.) (46 on list) What comes to mind when someone uses the phrase prolonging the magic?

I tend to think that someone is trying to drag out something that was good for way longer. As in, it kind of sucks now but they want to believe it’s still a good thing. For example, I had a couple friends who dated in freshmen year of college and everyone knew when it was over… except for them.

2.) (45 on list) Do you believe that we are all here for a reason?  What might the reason be?

On a very rudimentary level, I believe we are all here to procreate. Given free will, not everyone opts for this. Having had children, I know that was one of the reasons I was put here: to experience a family. I guess we all have to figure out what we need to do before we die.

3.) (27 on list) What’s on your calendar for tomorrow?

Let’s see… I have to work on my Fall syllabus, write two comic reviews, and I have an hour long teleconference in the afternoon

4.) (66 on list) Ice cream: chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry?

I would say chocolate but I know I’ll always go for strawberry. Because I crave that fresh fruit feeling in a sweet dessert.

5.) (38 on list) What was the longest amount of time you have spent  waiting (i)n line for something?  What was it, and was it worth the wait?

Hmm, I tend to hate waiting. All the times Ash stayed out all night in a line waiting for a video game system to become available, I never went. I guess the longest time would be in a line at an amusement park, like Disney. Actually, probably the line for the Hulk at Islands of Adventure. I’d say it was worth it because I am afraid of roller coasters and I actually enjoyed that one.

6.) (55 on list) What did you learn today?  What did you learn yesterday?

Today, I learned that if you catch it early enough, BOA won’t charge you an overdraft fee. Yesterday, I learned that the two guys on Auction hunters used to be rivals before they went into business with each other.

7.) (2 on list) What 5 websites do you visit often, and why?

Facebook (obvious), Gmail (obvious), Twitter (out of habit), Tumblr (for the random), and MSNBC (to be depressed).

8.) (64 ON LIST) What were your best and worst subjects in school or college?

English was my best, of course. Though I also did well in the sciences and religion. I SUCKED at math.

9.) (42 on list) Write a celebrity crush list.

LOL.  I’m not sure I even have crushes on celebrities anymore. There are people on TV I fancy… I’d put David Boreanaz on this list. Can we consider authors celebrities? I totally have a crush on the authors I am reading. Because they’re so awesome.

10.) (44 on list) Describe your note-taking style and habits.

I don’t really take notes. I mean, I have a mental list and then, sometimes, I will jot a note down on my phone.

11.) (73 on list) If you could tell the world just one thing, what would you say?

Calm the hell down and try to get along.

12.) (14 on list) Name one thing you always wanted to do, but haven’t.  What has prevented you from doing it?

I can’t say I have always wanted to do this but in the past 10 years, yes. I would love to hike a portion of the Appalachian Trail. I suppose the 5 years I have spent pregnant/having kids has really been the hang up.

13.) (53 on list) What is the most amazing thing you have ever seen, heard, or experienced?

This is going to sound super hokey but I will say the exact moment Elliot entered this world. If you haven’t had a baby then perhaps this is foreign to you but it was the biggest relief/accomplishment/sense of pride and wonder all wrapped up in one. All pain went away, everyone around me disappeared, and there was only him.

  1. Someone recently told me that whenever they find themselves waiting in line they think of it as free time to rest.

I have walked a portion of the AT. Four days worth. My pack was heavy.

I think with my hand so take lots of notes, but can’t always read them later!

  2. Great list. I think it’d be interesting to walk the AT, but wouldn’t like carrying a heavy pack. My neck would neve recover. Thanks for visiting!

  3. The news is pretty depressing, eh?

Not everyone who is childless is childless by choice.

Five years of pregnancy is really a lot.

Thanks for visiting Blue Country Magic!
