Tapas, anyone?

I don’t like that my new layout does not have a search feature. I like to see what strings people have found my site by and then see which entry they match up to. Sometimes the ones listed in my stats are not entirely correct. Without the search, I ended up just hitting “random entry” a bunch yesterday. I think it would be good fun for every blogger to do this sometimes and see what they were doing on any given day, any given year. Kind of a brief glimpse at the former you. Very fun.

I miss the days when Jordan, Lauren, and MoodyMeow were always commenting on my blog. Of course, the thing about this is that we are all so busy. So it’s no fault of theirs. I do not intend this to be a negative. Everyone is busy, myself included. The feel of my blog, my purpose for writing and my compulsions are completely different from six months ago, from two years ago. It is funny how this can change; how it morphs and nothing is ever the same. I suppose if I care about comments, I need to find myself a new set of blogs to follow and begin commenting myself. I think this may be the only way.

The rain has made Elliot sort of, well, insane. From about 5:30 until bedtime last night, this kid was running around like a drunken fratboy. He was laughing and falling all over himself, just generally acting like a goofball on speed. It was WEIRD. I think this age is really interesting because he’s soaking up things like a sponge but he’s also still a bit vacant. Or maybe, he’s just thinking. Half the time when he doesn’t answer me or just stares me down, he turns around and shocks me with a three word sentence or points and identifies something I didn’t realize he knew. Deep, this one is.

After much deliberation, I conclude that I liked Chicago better than New York. I tried to be very open about it; Ash and I discussed the fact that seeing two major US cities in a six month time period, we would inevitably compare. But I just felt better about things in Chicago. It was more captivating; the buildings had more life. I realize New York is a good 200 years older and has more history, but I didn’t feel as excited about it. Central Park is huge and all but I liked Millennium park more for it’s sculptures. It also had better performers. I know that sounds silly but it’s true. There are other factors though: we were in Chicago and it wasn’t snowing. New York was cold and rainy. Wait, that’s pretty much the only difference. Most other things were similar: nice hotel/room, we knew people in the city, we visited parks, we ate. All food in Chicago was good. The Mexican place in NY was bad. Eh, I guess maybe I should just appreciate each trip for what it gave me and stop comparing.

  1. I should comment more. I still read this every day. You will be happy to know your blog goes well with coffee, and I think I’ve made it plain how much I love coffee. Do not despair. : )
