In the days post-election, there’s a sort of relief that it’s all over and a silent hope that the elected are now conspiring to throw together some teams to work on all these Big Problems that they just inherited. Meanwhile, the country goes along like it did before and look forward to seeing some changes in the near future.
The week, for me, has been long and short, at the same time. This morning, I began to feel like it must surely be almost lunch time because I felt like I’d been here for hours. Alas, it was only 9:30. And now, it is only 11:30 and I need a break from this desk, this list of to-do’s, and the hum of my tiny old monitor. (As an aside, the enw accountant has two new monitors and I am a little pissed off about it because I asked for a new monitor when mine got all wavy and the tech guy gave me new speakers instead. WTF?)
In book related news, I just finished reading A Confederacy of Dunces and Magician: Master. Both were very good in their own right, though neither had the kind of closure I normally seek at the end of a novel. It is understandable in Magician since the author goes on to complete the Riftwar Saga, but in Confederacy the author simply leaves it open to interpretation. Personally, I think I needed a.) the main character to be punished a little more for his actions and b.) to know exactly what would happen to him. Now, I am moving onto The Other Boleyn Girl, even though it is so not my kind of novel. However, I began it last night, got 40 pages in, and have to admit that I am hooked.
Now, to finish out this entry before I actually get down to business:
- I have GOT to budget out some money for a new pair of jeans. These are becoming threadbare!
- The weather is gorgeous today and I am stuck inside!
- Ash may finally be over his illness; the cough has subsided
- Elliot is refusing any and all foods that are not: bananas, peaches, waffles or cheese.
- My dogs are all due for their vaccines and let me tell you: those are not cheap!
- Someone is smoking a clove below my office window and you know, those smell so good. They remind me of a time in my life about 10 years ago.
- I think I may have decided on a name for a girl, should our next child be that gender. No, I’m not telling.
