30 Day Shred update, summoned, gourds

As you can see in my flickr sidebar, Elliot’s pumpkin costume fit perfectly and turned him into Cutest Boy Alive, at least in my book. Halloween went well; he got a little tired after maybe 45 minutes of walking around but Kenny had taken Kendall (2) back to the house and Courtney and Robert were also leaving for Georgia with their son, Payton (17 months). So I felt ok leaving the rest of the group. Elliot is, of course, too young to really grasp the concept of dressing up and/or Trick or Treating so it was really just for us to get cute pictures and hang out with other adults.

In “Losing the baby fat” news, I completed all 30 days of 30DS and so far, I didn’t lose much weight. However, I have toned up a lot. My arms show the most noticeable difference and I can tell how much stronger I am. In level 3, she makes you do situps and they’re “full blown Rocky style situps”, and I can do them! That was always one of my weaker areas – my core – and now I can do situps like they’re nothing at all. Ash says he can tell how much I have toned up on my body as well, though I don’t see it. I’m harshest on myself and there is still too much baby fat on my belly to really be happy. SO, my new plan is to do it for another 30 days but rotate. Do one day of level one, the next day level two and the third day level 3 then rotate back again. This way, I get in a variety of exercises and work all areas of my body in some fashion. I’m actually looking forward to it, as crazy as that sounds. I guess just seeing some results gave me the impetus I need to keep going.

UGH: Jury duty. Well, selection first. Last night I called the hotline, as instructed, and it said roughly this: “Jurors with IDs 1 through 325 will report at 7:45 AM. Jurors with IDs 1 through 300 will report at 12:15.” I started to freak right the hell out because how does that make any sense?? I seemed to recall, as the panic was setting in, that the small piece of paper that I was supposed to give my employer, said my reporting time was 12:15. But the paper I keep didn’t say anything. So I got all dressed up super early and went into my office to look at the employer portion where, sure enough, the time 12:15 is printed. Why couldn’t they write that one BOTH sheets of paper? Our court system leaves much to be desired. This small issue caused me to be into work by 7 AM instead of 8, and I was only slightly annoyed, since I got some coffee and worked on a few projects. But still. Isn’t that the stupidest thing?

I plan on leaving about an hour before I need to be there because the closest free parking is about 5 blocks from the court house. I could risk it and pay a 4 hour meter or pay 5 bucks to park 3 blocks away but it isn’t worth it. I walked 5 blocks to the train station in Chicago 2, 3 times a day when we were there. I won’t sweat it this one time.
