Some catching up to do

***We now return to your regularly scheduled program, already in progress.***

Alright, no more vacation talk because somewhere, deep down, you’re all feeling like, “Hey, quit bragging that you got to take a vacation, while I’m over here slaving away.” Yeah, at least that’s how I feel when I read other peoples’ blogs. Kind of jealous.

Anyway, did you know that cell phones numbers went public the other day? So far, I have received three calls from an 800 number and one from an 888 which was a pre-recorded message from the coach of FSU’s women’s basketball team, trying to reach a goal of 3000 season ticket holders. To women’s basketball. College women’s basketball. Good luck with that, lady. Oh, and don’t call me again. I received an email forwarded from a co-worker that states:

“To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:
888-382-1222.

It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of
your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.”
I just wonder if it’s true. Snopes, anyone?

Did I mention that Elliot is a lean mean walking machine now? Yeah, he looks like a tiny T-rex as he saunters around the house, little arms held out in front but not extended all the way.  And he must have grown an inch or so because he can reach things that he previously could not. Oh, and he knows how to open and grab items out from cabinets. Ok, he knew how to do that months ago but now, it seems like his sole purpose in life. Must seek out bath salts in bathroom cabinet, must drag them to hallway. Look! A ball! Must leave bath salts where mom can comically slip and fall on face.
I’m pretty glad to see him walking though, even if it can be pretty hellish chasing after him all the time. It’s like he’s this tiny adult now, walking around like us, trying to be a part of everything. He may only be slightly over 2 feet tall but he’s making his presence known.

Aside from unpacking and getting back into regular life, I’ve been up to not much else. Looking forward to the pumpkin patch with E and there’s a Heart Walk this weekend I am doing with a friend. I look forward to the weather getting cooler and seeing more trees turn colors. Seems like I am noticing more this year, which is weird for this region but I definitely like it. I’m also trying not to feel that Fall/Autumn sadness I get that preceedes the holidays, even though I love the season, the smells, and the three awesome holidays. I don’t know – maybe this year I can break through all that navel gazing and find happiness in my family instead.

  1. I don’t know if that number works or not, but there IS a Do Not Call Registry that DOES work for 5 years. I did mine online and it is HEAVEN to not get telemarketer calls on my cell phone.

I love it when they first start walking and look like little dinosaurs with big bellies. Delicious!
