All through the night

Why I am not trying to sleep now, now that he’s actually *quiet*, is beyond me. Elliot had his first official rough night. I guess it started somewhere around 6. He was awake so we had him out in the living room with us. He likes to sleep on his daddy so there he lay while we watched Wedding Crashers. He seemed nice and sleepy but was hungry so around 8 I fed him and we went through the normal routine. However, he was still fussy after that. Around 9 or so, he was all-out crying and I wasn’t sure if he was just still hungry or what. So we took him into our room and comforted him. He could be quieted for 5 to 10 minutes at a time and even seemed sleepy, but he always went back to crying. I was so exhaused that the next 3 hours were hellish.
By 11:45, I was awake and decided I’d let Ash get some sleep and I took Elliot to the living room where I placed him stomach down on my chest while I watched Entrapment with the sound off. Finally, by about 2 and after one more small feeding,I got him to sleep and stay asleep once I moved him to his crib. I don’t know what came over the little beast but he was not my favorite person last night. As I took him from the bedroom and said goodnight to Ash, he gave me some encouraging words about staying patient. It really helped too because an endlessly crying child does not make for a happy nor patient parent.

I’m skipping support group this morning in lieu of this and well, sleeping. As soon as I’m done checking sites, I’m going to crawl back into bed and try to squeeze in another hour and a half before little beastie is ready to drain my life force, er, I mean, eat.

  1. tee hee – life force 🙂

do you think that he had gas? I know that Riley as an infant got gassy and had issues releasing the pressure that would build up in his belly… There is this stuff that they sell at WallGreens or CVS (not cheap) for gas. I think its like 14$ for 1oz. but it helps… just in case…Get some rest!
I have a screaming banshee that I need to go play with 🙂

  2. I have heard of this stuff but for now, I’m going to keep burping him and seeing if it was gas or maybe just a bad night. I can’t keep losing sleep like that.
