I’m not particularly grouchy; I went to bed with an upset stomach and woke up to find it still churning, rumbling, aching. I don’t know if it was dinner (hamburgers and fries at home, which shouldn’t upset it) or if I am just messed up. I’ve been having this problem a lot lately. I ate a piece of cornmeal wheat bread that I baked over the weekend but it only settled my belly slightly. I am still tired and kind of annoyed in general. If I keep thinking this way, then I will always be in a bad mood.
I woke up also feeling quite writerly; ideas popping in and out of my head, bumping around inside the caverns of my mind. I may yet be able to write some non-fiction today. I’m not feeling it right this second but perhaps later. At 2:30, the guy who wrote one of the books that the First Year Writing classes use will be giving a talk downstairs. I’ll probably go to that just because I missed him last time.
Well, I’ve run out of crap to entertain you so tell me, what did you guys do over the weekend?
ETA: I have always wondered what happens to the stuff they make for the other team, in case they win. now you know
Charitable use is a lot better than eBay, for sure.
Interestingly enough, a writer of one of our textbooks is going to be in town for a talk about his book, and the publishing rep emailed all the UWP and English instructors in a mass-marketing email about it, and it was obvious that she wan’t interested in getting us familiar with the textbook, but to get us to buy more books.
That sucks. Well, this is Ballenger and we already love his book. We have bookfairs to hock the other crap we’ll never use in the classroom :).
I don’t know why I can’t get the since to write down your email, as I need to send you some info… Can you send it to me?
if you scroll down my page on the right hand side, you will see a link to contact info 🙂
Yeah, I love Ballenger’s book. I wish I could use it here, but it’s mentality doesn’t fit the pedagogical model here.
Did Ballenger do the water bottle exercise again? That was really fun.
Went to the movies! Because I said so was an excellent movie – totally a chic flic but still good.
Vivian – that’s one I’d watch if it came on tv but I’ll take your word for it that it was good.
Lauren – we did it with an apple and it’s amazing how many graduate students can’t come up with a question.
Jordan – That sucks -I think teaching research his way is very effective for students this new to that type of writing.
