Ok, I did it. I didn’t speak (ok I accidentally said “thanks” one time at night) the whole day and I ate tomato soup at around 7:30 – so that was almost 12 hours without disturbing my mouth. I don’t want to jinx myself but I am trying so hard not to get dry socket. There’s slight pain in my ear so I’m sort of worried. But the last time, I knew when the clot had fallen out, allowing for the socket to dry. This time, I feel like it’s still there. I’m sure you don’t care about my oral cavity that much but hey, it’s what’s going on in my life.
Some people are surprised I went to work today but all in all, my day’s pretty short. I have a dcotor’s appointment at 9:30 so there’s a good 2 hours gone. Then I go to class at about 3:15. I don’t feel good in general: stuffy nose, headache, but I can’t keep missing work.
I am hoping though that by tonight, I can eat solid foods. I just want to be as safe as possible. I talked to the dentist and I am going to go in and have them check it around 11. I just want to make sure- I mean, lordy – I did everything I was supposed to do. If that doesn’t do it, then I am just predisposed to dry socket and I’ll have to suck it up. But I will not be a happy camper.
ETA: Yes, I have dry socket. No, it’s not as bad as last time. I am doing things to keep my mind off the taste and for some reason, it’s just not as bad this time around. Maybe I just got used to the nasty flavor last summer when this happened. One more day home – today – and then I am going back to work. I hate not working but then again, I like getting some baking done. 🙂
I hope your sockets remain fully un-dry. And perhaps the pain in your ear is because you have s stuffy nose and such. Think happy thoughts. At least it’s Tuesday. 🙂
Unfortunately, I am just predisposed to dry socket. Ew: clove oil. At least for the next two days. Oh well; I sort of knew it would happen.
I’m glad your dry socket’s not as bad as it was last time. I’ve never had it but from how you’ve described and how others have as well, I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.
And hey, talk all you want about your oral hygiene. That’s what I did for about a month.:-)
