Your creative challenge for the day

Imagine that we’re going to bury a time capsule for future generations. My question to you is: what one item would you put in it and what do you think it will say about 2006 (ok, the 2000’s) when the future people dig it up?

P.S. I never got to do a time capsule so I thought this would be a fun project.

  1. Don’t pressure me! My head may explode.
Okay. My grand contribution is….. drumrolll please…..

I would actually place my cell phone in the box. Why? It’s my little computer with a pretty color (it’s a blue Pebl). I use it to call family, as an alarm clock, as distracting entertainment (Tetris owns me), to send pictures of weird shit I see, to text message and chat (I have AIM on this phone), to get the weather and the news, and an e-mail device. It even works as a dim flashlight when your power is out. The only thing it doesn’t do is mow my lawn.

My husband and I got rid of a traditional land-line about 7 years ago. We had a voip phone for a while and then got cell phones after the hurricanes. The landline has become an archaic device, only good for businesses and people who refuse to see the wonders of technology. Cell phones have changed how we interact with each other and the world. I’m not saying it’s the best thing to happen to the 2000’s, but its important.
