As noted in the sign up post, I decided to highlight beers I have liked. I know this sounds very surface but a lot of my personal life/hobbies revolve around it. We are homebrewers and I have – as of today – 4,582 unique check-ins on the app, Untappd. I keep track of all beers and rate them there. So, without further ado – J!
Sorry I got behind; I’m not very good at writing this time!
J is for Jiffy Feet Black IPA from Myrtle avenue in Jacksonville.
We return to Jax now for a Black IPA. We visited this brewery exactly one year ago and had not heard of it prior to. It was a nice place that catered to the family type – they even had a whole kid area with playground equipment. When we got there, probably a Friday or Saturday night, there were not many people so we got to talking to the bartender, who ended up being the brewer. We chatted a good long while and he even took us to a backroom to show us his equipment and he even gave us a cool bottle opener.
While I don’t recall drinking this one, I did give it a 3.75. I’m over IPAs in general but a Black IPA, or Cascadian Ale, is a little different. While it does still have the hop-forward character, it also tends to have the dark maltiness of a dark lager, which make for a complex and surprising drink.
