Random Tuesday – Try as I may, the world just annoys me

  • It rained all morning yesterday – which we desperately needed – but it precluded my walk with a friend; the one whose husband had brain cancer. Ugh. We have plans to see each other briefly Friday afternoon, since her daughter’s softball team is playing my school’s. Do I want to stay here until 4:30 just to see her? No, but yes? I will. I think it’s worth it.
  • Oh, remember the aforementioned meet-up with my cousin? Yeah, that never happened. Firstly, they didn’t leave Lafayette until way after 12, even knowing we had dinner plans. So the meet up time went from dinner to about 7, then 8, then with traffic, not until 9. Boy was Ash mad, as was I. I don’t appreciate people not planning accordingly or taking into account respect for peoples’ time. In the end, I said we should take a rain check because 9 was WAY too late to eat and/or drink. We even rearranged things for them; i.e. did our normal Monday run on Sunday.
  • Oh well; we went to Smitty’s anyway and it turned out to be kids eat free. My daughter is 12 but can look younger or older, depending on what she’s wearing so the waitress did comp her meal. Score!
  • It ended up being a fun night; we played ping pong for a good long while and had a good time. I think in a way, I wasn’t ready to go back to work. I’d been off since midday Thursday!
  • Speaking of Thursday, I was eating some cauliflower in between errands when my daughter called. She was on a field trip so I answered, in case something was wrong, but while talking to her (it was nothing important, btw) I bit the inside of my lip. Now it has become this big irritation in my mouth and is bothering me so much!
  • Short weeks at work are always weird; you think they’re going to go fast, then for a minute they drag, then before you know it, it’s Friday. After I see my friend on Friday, I plan to pick up Texas Roadhouse. My daughter has to stay at school until some absurd time like 9 or 9:30 for a band thing that night too.
  • Oh, so did I mention how my sister was mad at me? I believe I did. She was really not wanting to get over it either and my poor mom just kept wanting us to make up. I was extremely apologetic the entire time but whatever. Anyway, on Sunday, my dad called and said that he wanted to do a good thing for my son’s upcoming 16th birthday: give him my sister’s car. She wants something new so he’s going to help her with that. Anyway, she texted me yesterday saying she accepted my apology in light of wanting to do something nice for her nephew. So that is now in the rearview mirror but what’s funny is when I told my mom we reconciled, she was like, ‘I hope your sister apologized and you forgave!’ She clearly didn’t understand how stubborn and rude SHE was being to ME! It didn’t work that way, mom.
  • I have found a new snack for my keto days: it’s dried and salted edamame. I think 1/3 of a cup has net 3 grams of carbs, which is not bad. I just need more variety! Anyway, this post has been sitting for long enough; time to publish.
