As noted in the sign up post, I decided to highlight beers I have liked. I know this sounds very surface but a lot of my personal life/hobbies revolve around it. We are homebrewers and I have – as of today – 4,570 unique check-ins on the app, Untappd. I keep track of all beers and rate them there. So, without further ado – E!
When we rode RAGBRAI this past summer, the three of us chose to drive all the way to Western Iowa, which meant we had a stop in Nashville on the way. As is our usual – and because our friend is also into beer – we planned to hit a couple recommended places. The first stop was Barrique, which I would wager could be considered Nashville’s best brewery (though the next place, Smith and Lentz, could outdo it on their pizza alone.)
Not the best pic but that’s the place; it’s long and narrow, no AC, which made it pretty annoying, but the beer – oh man! They specialize in light lagers and saisons/wild ales, which are not my thing but were good nonetheless.
Equal Parts was a pre-prohibition lager I awarded a 3.75. I enjoy the old recipes and give credit to breweries trying to recreate them. They can be difficult in part due to the hurdle of water profile and available materials, since prohibition was nearly 100 years ago. This one is brewed with a local corn called Bloody Butcher, native to Tennessee, which gave this what I described as a “garden-y” flavor. While the vibes at this place were not the best, I would return because we gave almost all the ones we tried very high numbers.

Not air conditioned? In the south? That is unheard of . . .and not very customer friendly! I’m sweating just thinking about it hahaha!
I can’t imagine no ac in Nashville in the summer but glad you enjoyed this one. At least the beer was a good one!
