Wednesday ‘Podge – No foolin’ here

1. March is rolling on out of here. Sum up your March in ten words or less.

Went by in a flash; April on the horizon

2. Are you afraid of heights? When was the last time you found yourself dealing with a height, and did it make you nervous?

You know, kind of. I don’t typically put myself in high up spots. I have been to the top of the (old) Sears Tower, the Eiffel Tower, and on ski lifts and not really been worried. However, the few times I have been on roller coasters, I do not feel good about the crest. Similarly, I refuse to ride those really tall carnival swings. No thanks! Though that may be more about the rickety-ness of carnival rides and less the height.

3. What’s a word you struggle to spell on a regular basis, and sometimes need to double check before writing it down? Use the word in a sentence that tells us something about your April calendar.

Repertoire, Accouterments, and every now and then, Resuscitate

My normal repertoire of stress relieving tactics has failed to alleviate any of my worries

4. Love ’em or hate ’em, with Easter comes the sweet treat known as Peeps. So… do you love ’em or hate ’em? Speaking of peeps, what’s your favorite way to have chicken?

I actually do like them. A friend of ours made a seltzer out of them that was… interesting! My favorite way to have chicken is just pan-seared but if we are being totally honest, I really love Chipotle’s – over white rice, black beans, with their corn salsa, lettuce, cheese, sour cream and guac. Mmm, that sounds so good right now.

5. This week’s Hodgepodge lands on the first day of April, which happens to be National Poetry Month. Do you like poetry? Share a favorite line or two from one of your favorite poems. What makes this one a favorite?

I do like poetry but don’t read it often. I was always fond of Billy Collins and Wendell Berry, who I will share below.

Before Dark

By Wendell Berry

From the porch at dusk I watched

a kingfisher wild in flight

he could only have made for joy.

He came down the river, splashing

against the water’s dimming face

like a skipped rock, passing

on down out of sight. And still

I could hear the splashes

farther and farther away

as it grew darker. He came back

the same way, dusky as his shadow,

sudden beyond the willows.

The splashes went on out of hearing.

It was dark then. Somewhere

the night had accommodated him

—at the place he was headed for

or where, led by his delight,

he came.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I did sign up for A to Z but have not written the post. We’ll see if I can get to it today. I have something I have to face later that I am not looking forward to and it is stressful. Additionally, I have had so many things for my classes, I just can’t seem to get caught up at all! But let me go do my A post and we’ll go from there.
