A to Z Blogging Challenge – A is for Adalwolf

As noted in the sign up post, I decided to highlight beers I have liked. I know this sounds very surface but a lot of my personal life/hobbies revolve around it. We are homebrewers and I have – as of today – 4,564 unique check-ins on the app, Untappd. I keep track of all beers and rate them there. So, without further ado, the first one – A!

We have visited Aardwolf twice upon trips to Jacksonville. While the city has many good breweries, including the downtown location of Bold City, and INK Factory and Green Room on Jax beach, we enjoy Aardwolf for their dedication to styles I personally like to drink. That is to say, lighter beers.

I have gone through my phases over the years; I used to be an IPA fanatic, then transitioned into stouts and imperials. But in the past two years, I’ve found a love of the basic, the pilsner, the lowly light lager.

Today’s feature is Adalwolf, a German Pilsner that my husband and I imbibed on April 18, 2025. It is light-bodied, clean and crisp, with a little sweetness on the back end.

In the second photo, you’ll see the tap room. We happened to go during an event they were having called “Space prom”, and this was how it was decorated! It’s a cool vibe, which goes a long when visiting breweries; I know because we have gone to A LOT.

Our scale for voting on a beer has shifted over the years but, currently, and out of 5, if we rate something a 3.25, it is not something I’d want again. 3.5 is fine; if I encountered it, I’d order it. 3.75 is solid – yes, give me one. 4 and above (and it is RARE anything gets a 4.25 or 4.5) is something I would seek out time and again.

As you can see, Adalwolf received a four and I believe that’s a very fair rating.

  1. I’ll have to share your reveiws with my husband. His favorite is a red ale, but he’ll drink a variety. Good luck with the challenge!
