I was kind of worried that I’d not feel renewed after this long break but methinks…I am!
Anyway, after our long Thursday evening in the ER as noted in my last post, I allowed myself to sleep in Friday. I got up leisurely and started on laundry when it made sense to. I put things away from vacation and went to the grocery store. Since we were going out later, I didn’t eat but did make the kids some stuff. Around 3, we went up to Deep to meet friends for basketball-watching. In all actuality, we mostly played trivia, but it was still a good time. Might have had one beer too many because I know that once I said goodnight to my daughter, I called it a night!
I awoke way too early Saturday and in a move unlike myself, I went back to sleep. I generally don’t do that because I’ll awake feeling even worse, but it paid off. Pretty sure I got up at 8:30 and I felt rested then. Had my coffee, ran a load of towels, and didn’t do a whole lot else until just before lunch. While we typically eat our keto meals during the day, after our vacation, we agreed that we needed a break from regular food. So bratwurst it was. I had asparagus as well and Ash just munched on some spring mix. I don’t know how he does it without any dressing but more power to him. The kids had burgers while we ate that and then in the afternoon, Ash and I watched a couple movies, specifically Alley Cat and Timecop, with some of our worst bowling ever in between. Dakota had a friend over after she and Isaac mowed the lawn. He had a date and I dropped him off at the theater and Ash agreed to pick up. I kept thinking it was Sunday but indeed, we were still luxuriating in our Saturday.
Sunday did come, though, and I was glad I’d done laundry already. I thought about going for a run but my hip is still bugging me and I’m worried I’ll hurt it even more. I’ll stick to walking I suppose. Anyway, I got a lot done Sunday: general cleaning and making lunch. We had tacos salads and guac and then Ash and I vowed to watch a lot of movies, since we took a week off. And indeed we did; four in fact! It sounds like I was lazy but I feel like I earned it. We watched, in order: Road Games, Duel, Private Lessons, and Slumber Party Massacre 3. LOL, I love a cheesy movie! The first one was actually really good and quite the thriller. The second one was Spielberg’s directorial debut and while the story was mid, the directing chops were evident. This third one was in line with a bunch of 80s movies about a rich teenager and an older woman. The final movie was better than the second but not as good as the first, as far as cheesy 80s slasher films are concerned. Once those were all over and my daughter’s friend had come and gone, as well as Elliot and his girlfriend, we took about a 3.75 mile walk. While it had gotten warm here, the evening was cool with a nice breeze.
I’m back to work today, though my kids still have one more day. We don’t get the same teacher work days here, since we get religious days the public schools don’t. I am still thinking about our trip and how awesome it was. I plan to do my Random Tuesday about it and maybe share some pics!
