Random Tuesday – Busy busy bees

  • Ahh, the keto brain/focus. I am killing it today in terms of my grading! I got to work early today, got right to work on grading and my in-class mini conferences with students are going well.
  • We got a TON done yesterday after work too. I went to the store then came home and made taco meat, and we had salads. Soon after, I ran to the store for rubber bands that I had forgotten. I needed to ship off my entries to two different homebrew competitions. So I got those all done, boxed, and then Ash and I went to UPS to ship them and something he had. Home again, then we had the boys moving old deck boards to the street and we went around the house and sprayed at wasp nests – ’tis the season! THEN, we transferred all ten gallons of kolsch from two weeks ago into kegs. This meant I had a ton of cleaning to do in the meantime. Once done, I was still cleaning when my son got home a little early and wanted to make chicken, rice, and asparagus. I guided, as he is 18 and can cook for himself, and continued cleaning fermenters and dishes he dirtied. It was about 8:45 by then and it was time for our nightly walk. We did a little over 3.5 miles. Got home and finished up the cleaning and finally – finally! – got to sit down. Whew!
  • I slept amazing but that’s what happens when you exhaust yourself entirely. I have one million and one things to do before spring break/vacation but yesterday during planning I spent it working on my car. A temp gauge was flashing intermittently and since this is a new-to-me car, I don’t know what’s going on. I went to the parking lot for some paperwork and ran into our security guard, who’s this older farmer guy. He used to own the same car and said he’d take a look. Turns out the radiator was super low on coolant! I had my son buy some and bring it and we got it put in. Much better! Let’s hope there’s no leaking issue and it was just low because the previous owners didn’t know and hadn’t driven it in a bit.
  • I feel rather thin today, even given that I drank a bit of beer this weekend. The keto/fasting stuff does work, though it takes time. I watched a video today from one of my old stand-bys, Dr. Berg, and he explained why GLP-1 drugs do work but also, the shady underbelly, which I had kind of heard about. You lose fat, yes, but also, muscle mass. And if you ever go off them, the fat comes back but not the muscle. I have quite a few friends who lost weight with Ozempic and yeah, they look good, but it’s kind of a lie.
  • I’m starting to like this little Subaru. Never driven an all wheel drive car before and I can definitely feel the difference. It does drive more like a Honda than a Mazda, which I like. I hate driving my son’s car.
  • Anyone else’s gas prices going through the roof? This dumb political war BS is so irritating. I know it’s only a few dollars more but that stuff gets real old, real fast. Better start saving, just in case things get worse.
  • Didn’t mean to end on a negative note so here’s a positive: three more days and I can be on vacation!
