Wednesday ‘Podge – Come get your weather, northern states, it’s drunk in my backyard

1. Ice skating, skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, playing in the snow, or a snowy walk…which winter activity do you choose? Have you done any of these activities so far this winter?

I’ll go sledding, even though it can be a little scary, it’s fun. I am not one for skiing, but then again, I only did it once. We don’t have snow here and I’d like to avoid it if at all possible.

2. Everyone is posting pictures from ten years ago on their social media sites so let’s jump on the bandwagon too. Share one photo and one thought to go with said photo from the year 2016. And maybe everyone isn’t doing this, but many are and we’re going to be part of the fun.

We had planned a trip to go to western NY to stay with family in this old farmhouse. I went a lot as a kid so it was finally time to take mine. Sadly, the well ran dry so when we found out, we were just about into Kentucky. We switched gears and decided to go back through Nashville. I called a friend I have there and we visited and swam in her pool, then the next day, we went to the zoo, as seen here. It was the start of some annual family road trips in summer.

3. What’s a trend you hope disappears in this new year?

AI bands. I know that you CAN make music this way, but should we? Let’s have a revival of garage bands and have people actually play instruments.

4. ‘They’ say there’s a day for everything and January 21st proves it. National Granola Bar Day. Do you like granola bars? How about just regular granola? Do you like bars of other kinds?

I mean, it’s all just carbs and sugar but if I had to pick, I like the crunchy messiness of Nature valley. My kids like the soft ones from Costco.

5.  A frozen lake, a trickling stream, a raging river, or a deep well…which one describes something about your life right now? Elaborate as much or as little as you like.

Definitely a raging river; we have SO MUCH going on and it just storms out of control all the time.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Wow, I didn’t think to use AI, as our host did, to get organizational ideas but hey, that’s useful.

I left work early yesterday (around 11) because was just feeling so beat down. I went home and hopped in a very hot sauna for about 25 minutes, then I ate and took a nap. When I woke up, I was disoriented but felt much better. And today I am even better than that. I think it was just my body dealing with al the things we’ve been doing lately. And there’s always more to go! This weekend the plan is to go to the Medieval Fair in Gainesville. Next weekend is a homebrew festival, then the weekend after that, well, just the regular soccer and stuff. It’s just always a lot. I am actually excited for the last Sunday of this month when NFL is off in between finals and the Superbowl.

  1. Look at those little ones -so cute!! AI in general is annoying, somewhat scary, and also sometime useful. I am old school and like real music without all the bells and whistles and definitely not AI. It’s everywhere. Glad you’re feeling better!

  2. Enjoy the raging rapids as much as you can- they will go away! I am enjoying this quieter pace of life but do at times miss the busyness. AI is taking auto tune and racheting up to new levels with regard to music, isn’t it? Crazy times we’re in! Your 2016 trip sounds nice. I like how you are intentional about traveling and road trips. Have a great day!

  3. I remember sledding as a child, it was always such fun but I had no fear back then. I think I would be more cautious now.Fab throwback photo!Oh yes! AI bands are just lazy! I much prefer to see and hear real bands playing. It sounds like the sauna did you the world of good! The festivals sounds like fun, enjoy!
