Friday Five – cold, cold, and more cold

  1. I have exactly one million things to do but I made a list Thursday and am working through it. I don’t know how time keeps slipping away from me but, it is so. Last night I did manage to check off quite a few: I took my middle to get shoes and pants and then came home to do little things like put away towels, wash the NINE glasses of water that had migrated to my bedroom over the past week, and change the batteries in my toothbrush.
  2. The cold is here and it’s not going anywhere, apparently. Been cold all week, today being the coldest so far. Some models show flurries coming Sunday but I doubt it. Last January we got an actual snow that quickly turned to ice and I think that’s a once in a lifetime occurrence for this area! I just went and looked at the pics and videos from that time. It was so weird! No school or work because the roads were too icy. Florida wasn’t made for that kind of weather.
  3. I had a quiz slated for my first period today and had 4 students missing. I know it’s a half day and a three day weekend but hey, they knew about it! They won’t be happy to see the 0 placeholder in the gradebook. Mwuhahah. That’ll get their attention.
  4. So yesterday, the bathrooms in our main building were out of commission. Apparently they have to unclog a pipe that is eight feet down, directly under the flag pole… which is on a concrete pad. Sigh. So all 180 students and however many faculty and staff, all have to use the bathrooms in the gym, across the courtyard. The annoying part being that it’s a little walk in this cold. They still aren’t working today but thankfully it’s a half day.
  5. I did really well keeping carbs – and calories – to a minimum this week. I maybe should have eaten more calories but every day, I ate my typical keto meals but I still couldn’t reach 1000 calories each day; and I wasn’t hungry! It would have been hard to eat more, to be honest. I know weight loss takes time but I think if I stick to it, I’ll see results soon.
