Hello Monday – October is moving fast!

A wee bit late on my recap but it was a long day; I had vague ideas about what we’d do in my classes but I wasn’t really in the right mindset to set them in motion smoothly. Though, it all went ok. I did have to sub in 6th so it’s been one thing after another today.

Anyway, Friday, I got home and helped my daughter get ready for her dance. I don’t know why she does that pursing thing with her mouth but that’s her. She took a serious photo and her dumb 6-7 photo. I am OVER the 6-7 craze.

After I took her and her friends to said dance, I made sure the boys had food and called my mom. We had a nice long chat, then my daughter stopped by to get her stuff, though went back to a friend’s house. Ash didn’t get home until late – 10:30 or so – and that was an annoying end to the night. We’d had issues with a CO2 regulator we use for kegs and while I told him last week we needed to deal with it, he said he’d do it when he got home. Yeah, not the right time, for he was indeed very annoyed by it. But as most wives probably know, sometimes there’s no telling your husband what to do or think and you just have to deal with it. So I did.

We woke kind of early Saturday to get ready. Took Isaac to work, got two big bags of ice, and we packed our box of brewfest things and the keg, then got on the road to Jacksonville. We were there early enough to get the same spot we’d chosen last year at this homebrew-only event, and we had enough time to eat something before it all began. Our Japanese Rice Lager was a hit and many people said they voted for us but sadly, we did not win. To be honest, we didn’t go looking for a win (it was just people’s choice) but we were hopeful after a while. It was a really good beer!

Once things settled down and we’d packed up, we went to GraceNote brewery, which is one of our favorites in Jax. After, we found a fantastic Mexican place and called it a night!

We drove back early Sunday and got started on laundry and lunch; I was not in a good mood and I was also somehow exceedingly tired. I dozed off throughout the afternoon. Sometimes on days like that, I wonder when enough sleep will be… enough. I did wake up feeling pretty well-rested though, so that’s good.

The week ahead looks good; I think I know what I am teaching, we don’t have too much going on save for maybe Halloween trivia on Thursday, then nothing Friday and Saturday. We did have a beerfest but that’s not happening now. Sunday we are hosting a small football party; not sure how many people are coming to it but I have to clean and cook!

  1. Glad you got some rest on Sunday. Hopefully that helped to get your work week going on a good foot. So impressed that you come up with teaching plans and all that. It sounds intimidating to me (as someone who reads teacher´s plans when I sub, I am in the world of education/plans at least tangentially and I am impressed with the work of planning that teachers do). I have been toying with having a fall get together with friends but not sure that I feel like cooking for others (your upcoming football party reminded me of that!). Have a great day!
