I had not done one of these in a while so, here goes:

LOVING |

Wow, I hate to say this is hard but I have felt so out of sorts. Though, fair to say, I have gotten to a place where I’m not in sheer, abject fear all the time anymore. Just sometimes! So, I am loving:

late evenings when the cicadas are buzzing, the lightning bugs are blinking, and the sun sets above the tree line;

Sierra Nevada Summerfest. It’s a light summer beer and I find myself reaching for it over any others.

SAVORING |

Some of the fleeting moments I’m experiencing lately:

seeing my daughter leave for camp, still young but on the cusp of being a tween who may not be as carefree;

the feeling when Ash and I finish a long bike ride. It’s a rewarding feeling of pain and exhaustion that I know will allow me to eat and drink as I please the rest of the day.

REMEMBERING |

Oh, remembering is dangerous; it brings about too many emotions I’m not ready to accept.

My kids, then and now:

Ugh, kids grow up too fast!

TRYING |

To be content every day, with whatever. I have things to accomplish and now that we are in the new fiscal year, feeling hopeful about any one of these many jobs I’ve applied for.

Also, trying not to worry about the logistics of getting to and riding RAGBRAI. I at least feel confident in my ability to ride many miles, though repeated days does sound intimidating. We already said that if one day 4 or 5 we feel so exhausted the very last thing we want to do is get our asses in the saddles, we’ll take the sag wagon, which takes you to the end town. I don’t look at it as giving up, since it’s a ride, not a race.
