Random Tuesday – I need something to do

  • I know most people would be thrilled to have as much free time as I currently do but I really wish I had more work. Like, a place to go every day.
  • I started this post last week but then abandoned it, so it’s a Frankenstein list of ideas. Despite feeling bored, last week I got nights of good sleep and woke up motivated: I got out and mowed a small side yard we have and then I tackled this overgrown area where vines are growing up the fence. It’s technically the neighbor’s fence, but I was sick of looking at them. Those vine root systems go deep!
  • On Thursday last week, I woke up groggy, but got up and took my daughter to camp then roused my sleeping 17 year old and made him walk 2 miles with me. The day before, he was a lazy sloth and he just could not get motivated. I told him it would be a lot easier if he just got up and did something. He reluctantly admitted he felt a lot better.
  • Since he walked with me, I took him to breakfast at First Watch because I felt like he might enjoy it and indeed, we had a really nice time. Our food was fantastic!
  • Today, I have convinced him to ride 20 miles with me. We shall see how he does; it’s really flat and he’s young and in shape so it “should” be easy. He asked about just doing the neighborhood route and I’m convinced he wouldn’t make it 3 miles. It’s really hilly! He has been making himself run a mile every day lately but he claims his legs feel like they’re going to fall off.
  • I didn’t really talk, in my Monday post, about my brother-in-law. He ran a 100 mile race in California this weekend; hence where my husband and son are. I will detail it more in my Wednesday post, methinks.
  • He did ok in our 20; I left him at a covered bench about 7 miles in and then I did an additional 3 and turned around. I was proud of him because even though he was running 10 miles at 8 years old, he’s no longer a cardio type person but a weights guy. He goes to the gym often but hates cardio. To be fair, when we left him alone this past weekend, he did run a mile each day, on his own! No one even prompted him to.
  • OK, I am going to sit and each some key lime cheesecake because, well, I biked today.

  1. A one hundred mile race! That is super impressive. I hope it went well for him. How wonderful of your husband and son to go out there for him. My husband wishes that I wanted to work somewhere every day, lol. I hope you find something soon!
