Thursday 13 –

  1. OK so TODAY it is going to rain – supposedly. LOL. They just keep saying it! It does look like it, however. Which would be fine by me. I have a lot of things to grade.
  2. I feel like yesterday went way too quickly. I graded, ran a couple errands, then met Ash for lunch. After that, I took Isaac to get his learner’s permit – finally. He’s been 15 for a month and a half now. We dragged our feet a little because his birthday falls during a very busy time!
  3. Of course, he also had to take the 4 hour drug and alcohol course online, followed by the 50 question driving test. It was on me; when Elliot did these, he was taking driver’s ed so it was done through his class’s site, but I had to buy it for Isaac. He’ll still take driver’s ed in the fall though because you take your actual driving test while at school, get a piece of paper, and once you turn 16, all we do is show it to the DMV and you’re good. It was well worth it.
  4. In the evening, after Ash biked, we watched The Legend of Ochi, which was not great. It was pretty much all over the place and had very sleep-inducing music.
  5. No plans today; I mean, aside from me working and trying to swap bike pedals. My road bike has clip-ins and instead of dealing with them, I’m going to take the pedals from my mountain bike. Hopefully. I know how to watch a youtube video so I’m hoping it’ll be easy enough.
  6. We would have gone to trivia tonight but everyone bailed for one reason or another. Actually, I don’t know anyone’s reason except for one family, who is currently vacationing in Japan.
  7. I got an email yesterday from an FSU guy I interviewed with about a month or so ago; he’s in charge of hiring advisors, though not the final say. He interviews, sends stuff out to departments looking for an advisor, then they decide. The email said they closed the Spring pool job but summer was open. I asked if I needed to reapply and his answer was “I definitely need you to reapply.” So I interpret that as, it’s one of those red tape kind of things to reapply but I also guess that he knows a department for which I am suited is looking. But maybe that’s just me being positive.
  8. Speaking of positive, there’s a few things that still bring me joy (sorry, premenopausal complaint: nothing feels normal anymore) and I have witnessed them recently. One was another little bunny we saw on our Monday walk. We have so many owls and hawks around that the number of bunnies I saw even six years ago has dwindled. So I consider myself lucky if I glimpse one.
  9. The other is fireflies. I was just telling Isaac that it’s usually late May when they’re out at dusk in the backyard but I hadn’t seen any. Well, just after we finished our movie last night, I walked out to the sun room and peered out, to catch a whole lot of them! I know it’s a small thing but I do delight in those little flashes of light.
  10. Yesterday, Ash’s dad’s wife’s daughter (ok so, his step-sister? They didn’t marry until after Ash left for college so it’s a weird thing) gave birth to her first kid. It’s a miracle of science, since she has a disease that only 500 people in the whole world have. Glad she did it though and mom and baby are healthy. I had my mom crochet a blanket for the little one and I’ll be mailing it soon.
  11. OK, two classes graded! I am dreading doing the bike pedal thing so I am procrastinating. I also want to rack my mead to another container and I am trying to go from my 25/month Sirius plan down to a cheaper streaming only plan. I bought a bluetooth/fm transmitter for the car.
  12. I tried moving the pedals but failed. Ash says he’ll look later. In the meantime, I made lunch for the kids and watched a couple videos.
  13. Now, I am doing a little more work and then making dinner. I am also looking for more jobs!

  1. It’s always nice when a prospective employer reaches out to you. Hopefully something good comes of it!
