Y is for Years
Oh yes, definitely thankful for the years I have had and – hopefully – more to come! I look back sometimes and cannot believe I have lived THIS many years at all; though it is not as many as some. I am 46 and sometimes I feel like I have lived five lifetimes, at the same time as I don’t feel “old”. Time is such a weird thing; we wait forever for something we’re looking forward to, then before you know it, it’s a memory in the rearview.
I have had my young years; adolescent, teenage, then the 20s were an interesting one: you think you know so much yet, really, so little.
My 30s were all married life and kids; the years defined by the blur that is raising progeny. The stressful evenings, nights when you’re up two and three times with a baby. The daycare years; the sports teams – this kid at one field, this kid across town. All those crazy busy times.
My 40s is when I became more confident in myself; stopped caring what others think. I eased into them with a wisdom I never thought I’d actually gain. So far, this is my best decade, even though it also finds me struggling to find myself, career-wise.
I’m looking towards empty nesting within the next 6-7 years; probably career changes, moves, etc. Those years will be fun too, in a way. And hopefully, my grandparent years will follow, along with retirement, etc. Here’s to many more years!

I chose years, too! We have almost finished the challenge. Cheers!
Yay! I like how this always makes me write more but it definitely is hard.
I’m sometimes so surprised when I hear my age said aloud. I shouldn’t be, and I definitely don’t feel 30 anymore, but not my current age either. People mention seniors and I think of ‘them’ not me lol. I guess I’m technically a senior now but I’m trying hard to stay young at heart. And active. Once you stop moving age really catches up with you. One more day!!
I have lived more years than you and I’m not sure you ever feel your age.
I hope you have many more wonderful years ahead, full of terrific memories and lots of love.

I always look back to my 40s as my best years, closely followed by my 50s. Now in my 70s and closing in on my 80s, I am amazed at all the things I’ve experienced – the good, the bad, and the ugly.
