Oops, I got behind. Life is crazy busy!
K is for Kith and Kin
I’m going with this because I’ve always loved the phrase and while we all associate kin with family, no one really knows that kith relates to ‘the things well known’ like your surroundings, your country, etc. So in fact, I am of course grateful for my kin – any way you want to interpret that: close family, extended family (many of which, like cousins, I have become closer to other the last few years) and friends who we hold dear.
But if you went into the medieval version of kith, I like to think I am grateful for the known things around me; the familiarity of it that produces a stability. I have spoken of this so many times: how much stability in my life makes me happy and helps me to, you know, do things every day. I need that in my life; it settles my mind and allows me to move forward. I expect things to be in relatively the same place in the house; I count on my chair being a respite I can return to when I am tired. All those things I am very grateful for.
L is for Liberty
While I am sure there’s a large connection between liberty and freedom, I feel like Liberty evokes a more “American” feeling in most people. It means you are free to do as you choose, to feel as you choose, even within a society that you may perceive as having rules and laws that oppress. I feel we all do have that here in America, for the most part. And I know I am grateful for it!

It’s easy to get behind. I spend yesterday afternoon writing a couple letters ahead. Hoping that lets me stay on track.Donna: Click for my 2025 A-Z Blog
Way to rally! It’s easy to fall behind and tough to catch up. I would love to get ahead, but at this point I don’t think that will happen. I like the word kith, not sure I knew exactly what it meant so am glad to have the definition.
