J is for Jimmy Buffett
Ok, maybe that’s cheesy but I really like his music. He’s SO much more than Margaritaville, Fins, Cheeseburger in Paradise. He’s so much more than a brand and a hotel and a very bad light lager. The thing I really enjoy about his music is how it evolved over the years. Each album has a distinctly different feel. While earlier works feel folky and country-ish, his 80s and early 90s stuff really evokes in me a deep-rooted memory of that time. Below, I am going to share a few songs I am fond of.
In Florida, we passed a bill for a license plate last July. We needed 3000 pre-orders for it to be actually pressed and I think we’re down to only needing about 200. I really want one but don’t feel comfortable spending the money.
But I want to because even when I look at all the bands I love, in all genres, I always come back to Jimmy. His songs have lyrics that make him feel like a friend; someone who always has some great advice or a relatable story. I have heard people say “he can’t sing” but hey, neither can I!

I like Jimmy Buffet, too. We saw Black Jacket Symphony about a year ago and they did a whole show of his music. They even threw giant beach balls into the crowd.
I’m a Jimmy fan too. There is a poetry to his music that I find appealing, but his ‘beachy’ songs are fun too.
While I’ve enjoyed some of his music, I have to say I never considered myself a big fan. In fact, I’d be hard pressed to say I’m a big fan of most singers. But there are a lot of them that I do like….
