Hello Monday – Where am I?

Hey everyone. If you’re looking for my day 6 post for the A to Z challenge, I posted it yesterday, forgetting we don’t post on Sundays. So I guess I am ahead!

OK, let’s see, my weekend…

Friday, I was ready for a break, that’s for sure! My car was stressing me out, for one. The check engine light had come on so I went up to my local shop and they ran a quick test. What it showed, however, was that a sensor was failing; it wasn’t some major part or anything. So they cleared it and it stayed away for a bit but then then came back on. At the same time, my front right cv joint boot had been torn for some time so it was slinging grease everywhere. It finally got so bad that it was somehow finding its way into my car! Where the floorboard meets the door it was welling up. This is a Honda Element so the floors are a thick rubbery plastic. Anyway, I have a friend who is a part-time mechanic and former Element owner and he agreed to work on it for me.

So yes, I was stressed and when Ash got home mid-day, we went straight to Smitty’s for beer and burgers. The guy who owns it, Smitty of course, was there and we chatted with him a bit. He wants to do a tap takeover for the homebrewers, which would be pretty fun. He’d sell tickets and people could drink our homebrew. After lunch, we went home and just watched movies. I needed a dang break!

Saturday I got up and did my 20 mile training ride. We’re still doing ours indoors, for now. I think Ash wants to do outdoor rides come 30 miles. I started on some laundry and cleaning and went to the store. I was waiting for a guy to give me an estimate on the driveway but he never even showed! Isaac had a 2 o’clock soccer game, which was basically just practice, as it was against a girl team. No offense to girl soccer players but against an all-boys teams, it’s just unbalanced.

We came home and I made spaghetti and we drank some Peroni and watched more movies. Driveway guy texted me to say he’d had a family emergency but then he completely misunderstood what I was asking for. He got really pushy over text so I just ignored him; we’ll find someone else!

We really didn’t want to do much else this weekend. Sunday I dropped my car off with my friend at 9, came home to ride the bike again and then make lunch. We had steak, baked potatoes, and corn on the cob. Nice meal with little clean-up! Finished up the laundry and puttered about. Elliot had his girlfriend over in the afternoon, which is always nice but also, weird? This is still new territory. I want to get to know her more but also, don’t want to interfere.

It’s supposed to rain today then cool down, which will be nice. I’m plugging away at the things I need to do for work; making videos, deciding on which essays to have my students write. This semester is winding down quickly!

  1. I can’t believe that we are in the last three weeks of this semester. I will graduate on May 2 with my AA and I will start in June at Samford (online instead of in person). I’m really nervous!!

  2. We used to have a Honda Element – great vehicle! I wish Honda still made them, I loved how you could just hose down the interior. I hope you get yours back up to snuff.

We’ve got about a month left in our semester, I’m looking forward to wrapping up for summer.

  3. I hope you get the car issue sorted! We take our vehicles to an independent auto shop, not affiliated with any dealership. We feel like we get good service at a better price than the dealer would give us. Plus their staff is so friendly- we seem to be in there a lot and give them good business (we never buy new cars and right now my car is eight or nine years old so problems…arise!). Girlfriend/boyfriend is definitely uncharted territory. Don’t get me started on heartbreak :(. Hopefully that is a long time away for your kids!! Have a great Monday.
