Continuing the grateful theme:
B is for Boys
When I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted a boy. I knew so many women who claimed they only wanted girls and wouldn’t even know what to do with little boys but I was the complete opposite. I’ve never been a very girly girl and the thought of having one terrified me.
18 weeks in and I found out it was indeed a boy and wow, I was thrilled. I felt like I would identify with that child so much more. And I was right; except my first was pretty much just like me, which meant we were always clashing.
Child number two came along and another boy! Two little hellions running around! But they were so fun. It was all cars and super heroes and running around outside and getting dirty. It was so much fun though and I cherish those moments when they were little.

Now that they’re older, it’s a different kind of thankfulness I feel. For one, they are responsible and they take care of their sister (for the most part). Elliot will drive his siblings if I ask. Things are definitely different now and I get something varied out of both of them. Isaac is even-keeled and steadfast whereas Elliot is off doing his own thing most of the time and about to start his own life. We come together on some things but as he’s a senior, it’s a weird place. I look forward to seeing the men they become and hope I’ve done a good job as a mom.

Awww! What cute kids- great pics. I was the same way in that I really wanted my first born to be a son and was thrilled when we found out he was a boy! But I knew I wanted a boy and a girl so then I really a wanted a girl and was thrilled when my second was a girl. So it all worked out :). And I totally relate to a child being a lot like you and hence clashes.
I was excited when I found out our third was a girl because then I knew I’d get the chance to parent both. She is different in so many ways!
Adorable!! My first was a boy – he’s grown into quite the man.

Thanks!
I have no reason to doubt you’ve been a great mom.
Thanks!
I have two daughters and have so enjoyed having grandsons. It’s also fun having sons-in-law and I know my hubs really enjoys that. Boys and girls are just not the same and I am happy to experience both.
They really are very different! It’s fun to parent/grandparent both. I only have a sister and I know my mom loved seeing my two boys grow up.
