Hello Monday – Getting behind

For a bit there I was really ahead on all my stuff – grading, recording lectures – but then I somehow found myself a tad behind and now this week I’ve got to catch up!

Anyway, as noted in my Friday post, we still had a sick kid. We left him here sleeping and went to breakfast, then bought stuff to make a new concoction. I guess you could call it a Coke hard seltzer? Anyway, we made that. It wasn’t cool enough by evening to pitch yeast so we waited until Saturday and now my whole house smells like fermentation. We’re doing it the hobo wine way in a bucket but next time we’ll just put it out in the actual fermenter. It’s an experiment, after all.

That night we watched a movie called Red Rooms, which was actually pretty good. I thought it would be scarier but it was more just intriguing.

Saturday, my son was seemingly better but didn’t want to go to work; I made him of course, since it was the last week of city soccer games and he isn’t sure he’s going to ref baseball, so he needed the money. Koda had her last game and it wasn’t good. Her team looked kind of bad. Oh well. Went home and I headed to the store for lunch items. Made chicken, mashed potatoes, and veggies to make all parties happy. The afternoon was more movie-watching, though I can’t recall if it was any good. Oh, no, it was an 80s movie named Arena. Eh, not that great. I had to pick Isaac up anyway and then at 6, we met Dakota’s soccer team up at this arcade/bowling place. That was pretty fun in the end. She got to hang out and whatnot and Ash and I sat at the bar, ate some food, and had some beer. Their prices were actually pretty reasonable, which was a surprise. Probably also why they don’t advertise that; the place would have been more slammed than it already was!

Sunday, I got up and started cleaning, doing laundry, and rode the indoor cycle for ten miles. Oh, and before that, I took my daughter up to the school for a field trip. Yes, on a Sunday. They went to Jax to see a play. Ash and I had breakfast around 10ish (I made a huge omelette) then sat down to watch a movie in the afternoon. Isaac had gone up to another arcade/bowling place with friends and Ell had to work. We watched Carrie, because we’d somehow never seen it. Pretty good! Then we watched a not-so-good movie named Splice. Do not recommend! By 6:30 we were picking up our daughter and I wanted guac so we hit the local Mexican place. By then, the day was winding down so we threw on Kickboxer and I was asleep by 10!

It’s rainy today but not supposed to last. I have to teach today and I tell you what, even though it’s 2 weeks until Spring Break, I am ready now, as I am sure my students also are. But we must stay strong, then we can relax!

  1. Sounds like a good/busy but not enough to be overwhelmed weekend. A school trip on Sunday- that I’ve never heard of! I hope it was fun. I hope your son is feeling better. I have never seen Carrie. It was quite popular, if I remember correctly, when it came out. I’m not a Stephen King fan at all. I think the only movie I’ve seen of an adaptation from one of his books is The Shining. So creepy yet well done for the genre. Have a great Monday!

    1. I’m not exactly a fan either (and he is, personally, not a great guy) but I know the movie is a classic. It was pretty well done though, but not actually scary.

  2. It’s hard getting back on track, isn’t it? You’re always so very busy. I don’t know how you do all that you do. You make me tired reading about all of your going-ons. lol Have a boogietastic week, my dear! xo
