- That’s right – no real plans! Dakota has a soccer game tomorrow morning and we might hang out with the neighbors. In a moment of feeling extroverted, I asked what they were up to. Weather isn’t exactly conducive to a fire (it’s going to be in the 70s!) but it could be fun. And Sunday is the nice break before the Superbowl. Nice, slow weekend.
- I am personally thrilled for the warm-up. Yesterday, after I did a 20 min HIIT bike workout, I showered, went to the store, then I sat outside and ate some chicken salad. Right after, I took a 2 mile walk, then a 20 minute nap. It was a beautiful day to do things for me. Granted, I graded a lot of stuff in the morning.
- Today, I have some grading to complete then I plan to do more stuff around the house. I’ve been trying to stay on top of little organizational things because I think it helps my overall mental state. After the holidays everything just seemed to be a mess but um, it’s the end of January so no more excuses!
- I watched the most interesting video this morning that actually surprised me but also, confirmed something I’d been feeling/thinking for a while. You can watch it here, but I clicked on it because I do think we are sorely bereft of countercultures. I see it in my children; there aren’t the major social groups in school anymore. She had some really interesting things to say about how we don’t have a collective boundary as a society anymore because for the past 2 or so decades, they’ve been making that into the accepted (trans, etc…) so there isn’t anything to push back against. Exactly! She goes on to explain how the last bastion of what will get you in trouble is…conservatism. LOL. She ain’t wrong! Say you want to go to church and have kids and you’re canceled. It’s crazy that we got here. honestly. Truly crazy.
- And another random thing: I discovered 80s Japanese City Pop and it’s ever so good for background sound while grading. You’re welcome! Have a great weekend, readers.
I will check out that video. It sounds like something I would find interesting. Enjoy your plan-less weekend, except for the soccer and maybe social time with neighbors :). Your weather sounds amazing and all your movement sounds so good. I ran for the first time outside in weeks yesterday. It was raining (though lightly) but the sidewalks were finally clear of snow and ice so I had to go for it! Have a great weekend!
Last week when we had ice I thought about running and I am not used to having to dodge that obstacle so it was weird! I saw a friend of ours running on it and I was thinking, that is dangerous!
I just started listening to ’80’s Japanese City Pop because you suggested it. I love it! Thanks for the recommendation! I’m running all over Spotify collecting playlists….
I will check out the video as well. Sounds interesting and yes, it is hard to believe how quickly we’ve gotten to this point. Hope you had a great low key weekend!
