Hey y’all, how goes? It’s been raining FOREVER (ok, since 10 last night) and it’s still crappy out. I hate rainy days but I had work today so here I am. I just finished teaching my first class and it went well!
But let’s go back: Friday, I did work at home in the morning – setting up classes, making lectures, etc – and then Ash got home (half-day) and we went to Carrabba’s. I had soup and salad and we had some Peroni, then went home to watch a movie. We were going to watch something new but ended up watching a Jackie Chan movie; lol. Sometimes that’s just nice. Plus, it was cold and rainy. Later in the evening, my son worked and my middle watched a few episodes of Squid game with us. We stopped after a bit and picked up some Chinese food then watched football.
Saturday morning, they canceled my daughter’s 9 am game because the field was too flooded. Isaac was on a drier field so he worked from 10-3. In the middle of the day we went to the hardware store and then we got Isaac and went to late lunch/early dinner at Sonny’s. Elliot was set to work 3-10 and then he came home and went right back out for a friend’s birthday. Meanwhile, Ash and I watched a movie I’d never seen before called Kenny and Company. Honestly, I love movies like that: slice of life types. In fact, if I had to tell someone what this is kind of like, I’d say the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies but with the adult 70s feel to it. I highly recommend.
Another movie people said to watch after this one was The Peanut Butter Solution, which I’d heard of but never seen. Also, it was WEIRD. I really question WHAT Canada IS after watching this. LOL. We watched that first thing Sunday then I did laundry and cleaning and cooking and we didn’t do much of anything else all day. Winter is weird. I don’t want to do anything and I feel so lazy and have to force myself to get up. I wish I had done more but all I really did was put two coats of Kilz on the door to our garage. It’s ready for real paint now so that’s good. Baby steps.
I was glad for a low-key weekend; I needed it, even though I felt like a slug half the time. My work ethic makes it so I always think I need to be doing something and you know, maybe I don’t.

Glad you had a low key weekend! Wishing for sunny days for you 🙂
We had a “snow day” on Friday and I’m already off on Fridays . . .I felt like a slug! I didn’t want to take a shower because I didn’t want to talk all of my layers off so I kept on my Christmas leggings all day hahaha! I had so much to do but kept looking out the window.
I take a shower just to warm up!
I wouldn’t feel bad about relaxing on the weekend- you’ve got a lot on your plate and you’re in a busy season with your kids. I will check out the movie you recommended! Hope the rain has stopped :).
I know it seems like we’re a bit lazy in the winter months, but I think we all need a slower pace, a forced break from all the busy-ness of the other seasons. I haven’t heard of the Kenny movie but will check that out. We watched In The Heart of the Sea and it was really good. It’s a true story and was the inspiration for Melvilles Moby Dick. It came out in 2015 but I missed it and now its on Netflix. Glad your class went well! Have a nice week. Hope it dries out there!
Hmm, we’ll have to look for that one! It’s sunny today, thankfully! But still cold.
Canadian here, who would just like to say: We don’t understand The Peanut Butter Solution either. LOL! I have had this conversation with friends – I probably haven’t seen the movie since the late 80’s/early 90’s, but all I remember is how WEIRD it was!! In fact, I used to be scared of it. And my friends who remember it all say similar things. Such a bizarre movie!!
Yes! I mean, it felt very much like America until certain things. And I have been to Canada (granted, it was 1993) but that was my take: feels just like the US except, somehow different. But this movie was just odd!
