For real, y’all. I am a Florida girl and hate this cold! I took a bike ride on Wednesday and when I got home, I could NOT get warm, even under my heated blanket and another! Anyway, let’s do some faves for the week.

For some reason, he just keeps thriving. I think because I pruned properly this year, back in April. It’s still not perfectly shaped or anything. Also, I want to point out that this was a white one when we moved in and then around the side of the house, I found a very small blue one. I transplanted it near this one and while it never really took off, the flowers on this one turned blue!

While Elliot was rather reluctant to do it, he knew I appreciated it. We’d just watched a movie together and they got to work.

THESE AWARDS

Yes, I made them. No, I had never dabbled in candle making before. I was thinking that a beer candle would be a cool way to give awards to the people who win our in-club brown ale competition so I started looking online and they all cost too much. So I found a video on Youtube and followed the instructions. I think they turned out pretty good!

1. Today is “clean the house and get party-ready” day. We have probably about 20-25 people coming tomorrow for the homebrew club annual winter party. Last year we started a rule that the president has to host and then Ash got elected as such. No big deal; we like to host. But it’s always a lot of work. Our friend is smoking a boston butt and folks are bringing sides. Ash is going to do a powerpoint summation of the club’s year and then we’ll do our competition. I was finishing up those awards and I chuckled to myself: five people are competing and we are one of them. Wonder if we’ll win one of the candles! That will depend on how the club votes, I guess. Hopefully ours is good but we haven’t tasted it yet!
2. I was noticing that the past few weeks, we’ve been doing a lot of stuff and I have been beating myself up. I scraped the heck out of my arm last week in the yard, then I burned the side of my hand on the hot glue gun. The hazards of life, I suppose.
3. One day about 3 weeks ago, I got really hungry and decided to get one of those bacon, egg, and cheese wake up wraps from Dunkin. You may know that a. we don’t eat breakfast and b. don’t go to fast food type places. But I was starving! So since then, I’ve gotten them a few times and feel kind of bad about it. Well, since I won’t be going to campus until January, I should be able to break the habit.
4. It’s interesting that from 6-8 today, the temp is actually dropping, then our high is low 50s. Colder tomorrow, so we’ll really need to pump the heat. I guess it makes me feel “in the Christmas spirit” but ugh.
5. OK, I have so much to do and very little time to do any of it so I must go but hope everyone has a nice weekend!
