- Yes! We always host a Christmas party – well, ok, this will be our fourth year hosting a huge party. These are typically highly attended – between 80 and 100 or so folks – so yes, I will be planning for that soon. As well, since Ash is the brew club prez this year, we’ll be hosting a party for those members the Saturday before! I love the picture I took during our first one because my friend, Courtney, in the middle there is giving me “a” look.
2. Prep advice? Take it slow and don’t worry. I sometimes get this idea that things have to look a certain way or get done at a certain time. Do they though? Not at all. Whatever you do is good enough.
3. I don’t really make many specialty holiday things; I always bring the devilled eggs and mine are so simple: eggs, Duke’s mayo, horseradish, salt, pepper, dry mustard. That’s it!
4. We just celebrate the typical Thanksgiving and Christmas, though my parents’ anniversary is 11/27.
5. I guess I really like egg nog but not typically alcoholic. However, one of our friends and his wife brought one they made last Xmas party and it was so good it was gone in seconds. This year, they promised to bring two bottles. I do enjoy a hot apple or mulled cider but don’t drink it often.
6. The part with prep I struggle most with is when I think I haven’t gotten the kids enough little things and then I overspend and feel bad about it in January.
7. LOL I don’t really have a holiday outfit but I do have an ugly sweater. I can’t find a good photo but it’s literally a skeleton Santa chopping the heads off of elves. I know it’s dark but it’s also funny.
8. Holiday cards are a point of contention to me. I love doing it and I did for a while but now I somehow can never bring myself to a. start early enough or b. justify the money.
9. I HAVE shopped on Black Friday but typically avoid it. Ash likes to do it but he doesn’t make a point to.
10. Sometimes I’ll throw on Xmas music before Thanksgiving but not always. I can’t really get into the spirit until the turkey is gone. But to be fair, sometimes the SiriusXM Holiday Traditions channel will call to me beforehand. It’s only one channel up from the Sinatra station, which is already a preset, so I will dial up and indulge if it’s say, any version of The Christmas Song.

Wow that is a big party! I thought we had a lot of people at 70- you are my new hero- HA! Sounds like a blast 🙂
I’m not big on Black Friday shopping BUT I reminded Mark that we need to go to Home Depot on Black Friday because we got our live outdoor wreaths at a much reduced price last year!
Wow, that´s a big party! And then to throw another one as well? Impressive. I have shopped Black Friday before but it has been a long time. Almost every place has great sales online so I just shop those.
Now that’s a party! Does everyone bring something? It sounds like a lot of work, but I bet it’s tons of fun too.
In the past we’ve had people bring desserts, then sides, but this year it’s just snacks and we are starting earlier and playing games.
