- I’m pretty good at doing something difficult for a short period of time, but this semester has been a bear and I am careening towards the end, trying not to feel so entirely overwhelmed. I am catching up right now but the way I’ve done this is by waking up earlier each day. Not intentionally though, funny enough. I happen to just wake up and find it to be within the 5 o’clock hour.
- Apparently, and I don’t quite believe it yet, we are going to get a cold front soon. It’s been unseasonably hot lately. And that was odd, since it had been kind of cold in early October. Last year, November was the ridiculously cold month. The times, they are a-changing.
- I do hope we get that cold though because I want to have a fire in the new pit. We had one but it was simply to cure the fireproofing at the bottom. Of course, Ash and I need to dig around it to flatten the area. We built it next to where we once had a huge tree so the ground is a bit convex there.
- Speaking of things we have to do, that is where I am feeling most behind. We need to brew (we’re sitting on two kits), have to dig that ground, Ash bought an automatic curtain rod for blackout curtains in the living room and we still haven’t installed it,
- After I took the kids to the dentist today, I had to drive all over town, dropping them back off at their respective schools and on the way back into the neighborhood I noticed that a good many of the trees are losing their leaves. It was quite pretty actually seeing all the leaves cascading to the ground. Too bad that the temperatures don’t correlate to nice fall weather.
- The two rides we have taken down scenic highway, we have spotted a white squirrel. I can’t tell if he is albino or the other kind of white anomaly, something that starts with an L and the name escapes me right now. But I think it’s pretty cool that we have seen him twice now.
- While waiting in the dentist I spent some time making lists of stuff that I have to do soon. I’m facing that moment in my life where I know there are some other things that I’ve thought of, but I can’t conjure them up. I really need to start training myself to write down ideas as soon as I have them. Remember how back in the day people used to carry little notebooks and pencils around for that exact moment? We have cell phones for that now and I still don’t use it.
- The other day, once we had gotten home from our trip, my oldest son ended up hanging out with a friend of his he hadn’t seen in a while. They ended up at the gym and ran into another friend of his, whose parents I have been friends with since before the kids were born. It’s kind of amusing how that happens; how kids go through these phases of hanging out with certain people. They don’t go to the same school so that doesn’t help.
- OK, I have to do a bunch of junk now, in between classes and a meeting with someone else.

We awakened to temps in the high 50’s here in Birmingham – oh my goodness, it felt like fall!!
It was 52 when we got up this morning and just hit 72. Tomorrow’s supposed to be rainy and chilly. Fall is falling fast…
