- Believe it or not, things are going well today. First two classes went ok and I think they learned a lot.
- I know I already said this but can the time change happen already? I hate that it will be darker earlier but at least we can get some earlier sun. Good lord. I am sick of sitting here at 7:15 and it is STILL dark out. I need the light!
- I am also ready for this election to be here already. Things are ramping up and I am just weary. I already know how I’m voting nationally but I do need to do a bit of local research. Some of my choices have been made but there’s a couple folks whose platforms I still want to look into. I think I know my amendment votes too but there’s a couple more to assess. I am trying to my due diligence as a voter to make good choices, not just tow the party line.
- While I do have a good cohesive ideas for classes today, I am also being observed in my last class by the associate dean, so there’s that. It’s a typical thing and I’ve done it before but it can be nerve-wracking.
- I was just not feeling right yesterday. Dakota forgot a change of shoes (she had on cowboy boots for a dress-up day) so Ash and I rode our bikes up to the school to drop them off. It was slightly less than 8 miles but a good way to get moving. He and I then had steak, baked potatoes, and a veggie and watched a couple movies. But about halfway through Lawrence of Arabia, I started feeling that deep body weakness that comes with impending illness. Luckily, I have ways of warding: sauna for 20 mins, tea with lemon and Young Living Thieves blend, and lots of water and sleep. I feel pretty normal today.
- So there’s a mangy fox that roams the neighborhood and I thought I saw him in the neighbor’s yard yesterday but it turned out to be a rather healthy-looking fox instead. I don’t know too much about fox behaviour but I feel like they probably run from humans, right? My daughter often walks in the easement to her friend’s house and that’s where he was. I presume he was just snacking on some rodents back there.
- Have you ever seen Possession? It was from 1981 with Sam Neill (who I feel like was a lot more attractive when he was Dr. Grant in Jurassic Park than when he was young; just my humble opinion) and it was a serious ride, y’all. Super wacky. Not really horror but a psychological thriller, I guess. Timely as we approach Halloween.
- I told my mom this weekend that our friend would probably throw a last minute invite our way for pumpkin carving and I was right: tonight at 6:30. And he told us yesterday. Luckily we have a pumpkin and the time. In fact, now that Isaac’s soccer season is done, we are slightly less fettered.
- OK, I got all my grading done for one set of classes, wrote my announcements for another, and now I am off for my last on-campus class for the day! Whew! See y’all tomorrow.
