- This weather is not helping me at all today; it’s overcast and we may actually get rain. We need it, for sure, but I also need motivation.
- We’re headed to Pensacola later but I have to teach first. Thankfully, I used a bit of foresight and my students are just workshopping rough drafts today. This means I can probably leave before 3 and get home to pack.
- I should have run this morning but I probably won’t. I will say, I walked 4 miles yesterday and it was glorious. The weather wasn’t hot at all and the sun was out and in the earlier morning hours, around 8:30 or so, it was just…nice. I felt relaxed. It was a nice way to spend my morning before doing work. I did not end up going to campus so I could catch up on grading..
- After I did most of my work, I drove myself to Target but didn’t buy anything fun for myself; just a couple shirts for Isaac and some food things. Then I went to Publix and got myself one chicken tender, some potato salad, and a 5 dollar sushi roll. Then I was happy.
- We have chosen a few days during the week to skip any kind of drinking so we are also getting a lot more done because in those hours we’d be parking in front of the TV, we are working on other stuff. Plus, with the kids having activities, it doesn’t work anyway.
- Fair to say, we are going to a beer festival tomorrow night so there goes the Friday non-drinking day! But that’s a special occasion. I ordered fun beer socks and sent them to my parents’ house; just hope they get there in time!
- My mom is stressing about us visiting but I am not sure why; I think we are having a communication break-down over meals and timing, for some reason. You know those moments when you thought you were being clear but it seems you were not? This may be that time. I’m trying to figure out what I could have done to explain things to her. I think her true problem is that she’s so sidetracked with other stuff that she only half paid attention to me.
- I am so ready to be done with teaching and then, on our way. I’m in the midst of my second class and they are workshopping quietly. I love classes when they get to do the work instead of me!
- I’m usually pretty good at resigning myself to “work hard then play” but it’s particularly frustrating to be here at all, especially knowing that after this class, I have to go get a key because they made mine wrong the first time, and then still grade discussion board posts.
- We watched Skincare last night, which did not seem like a movie I was going to be into but I quite liked it. I then watched my Fish Jelly guys on youtube review it and they hated it. It’s always weird when people see things so vastly different! I thought the movie was kind of fun.
- Next week we are seeing the second Beetlejuice and I think some new Transformers movie, which I didn’t even know was coming out. It wasn’t so bad seeing one or two movies a week in the summer with our AMC pass but now that all the sports are taking up our time, it feels like we are just too busy. But as I have bemoaned before, if I wasn’t so busy, what the heck else would I be doing??
- So I left class and went to pick up a key that they apparently made wrong the first time. Then it would appear they made another error so I am trying my hardest now not to be annoyed but oh, how I am. Very very irritated.
- OMG I’M DONE.
I hope you have a great weekend!! I must admit that I chuckled when I read that you were dreading grading the discussion board . . .we had a biggie discussion due this week on Christopher Columbus. I imagine our professor is feeling the same way.
Wow, I was so surprised to see you doing a Thursday 13! We have links at newthursday13.blogspot.com if you want to join in. We’ve been holding it there for years now after the thing fell apart a long time ago. Not so many players now, but then, not so many bloggers, either. Glad I just happened to drop in on you today.
We are seeing the new Beetlejuice this weekend, too. Our friends picked theater and they chose the most expensive theater- $17 a ticket. YIKES!! That movie had better be good!! The farmers here need rain badly- hopefully we will get some tomorrow.
Yeah movies are way too expensive now. With the AMC thing, it’s 25 bucks a month but you can see up to three movies a week. Worth it if we see even one!
Skincare looks interesting, I’d not heard of it before now. It is funny how different opinions can be about movies! Books too. And there’s ANOTHER Transformers movie? Sheesh, those started when my kids were little.
The incorrect key – are you talking about an exam key? So frustrating when there are errors. I dabble in math, so even the slightest “typos” are killer.
No, actual physical key to open the door to my office. They somehow cut it wrong. Now I get to go back to the key shop, which is – of course – way across campus.
