MMMM + Hello Monday Ahead of Time

Hey everyone, I saw our hosts mentioned being back on Tuesday due to the holiday but I am going to go ahead and do my weekend recap now, especially since we don’t really have many plans today. Though fair to say, we always come up with something!

Now, Friday, we let Elliot stay home. He’d had a birthday and Ash said he could. It was kind of a waste, as he didn’t even do much around the house. I took the other two to school and cross country then did work around here. Ash and I both worked out and tidied up some stuff. Then we watched movies in the afternoon while waiting for the kids to be home. We had Elliot’s birthday dinner early evening, at Bonefish.

At least he smiled but Isaac did not. The food was pretty good and it was barely crowded. We agreed to let him have a friend spend the night so he left to get him and they went out a while before coming home. We just watched movies. There’s always a part of the day where I vow to sit and not really do much else!

Saturday I planned not to run, since I’d done 3 miles Friday and that was the farthest I have gone since training began again. I was pretty sore! I eased into the day and then Dakota and I went to the store before making my pollo con queso meal everyone likes. It’s so simple: seasoned chicken in a sauce of heavy cream, green chilies, cream cheese, pepper jack, and cheddar. And we eat it over yellow rice. So good. There were a lot of Premier League games on so we watched those and at 1, our friends came over with the beer gun so we could bottle for a competition.

This photo doesn’t do it justice; the strife was real. LOL. We’d never bottled before.

But we probably filled 12 bottles so now we have them for other competitions, not just the one we’re doing that is for German styles only. I can’t really remember what all else we did that day. Oh! Koda and I went to Dollar tree and Home Goods for fall/Halloween stuff. I’d say we found some cool stuff.

Didn’t do much else that night. I know Ash watched a movie but I fell asleep. I’ve been tossing and turning so much lately that 9:30/10 rolls around and I am done.

Sunday, the plan was that I’d ride my bike while Dakota ran a fast mile; the kids were supposed to get about 3 miles in over the weekend due to the holiday. Well, all the bikes seemed to have one less than filled tire and I wasn’t up for hassling with the air compressor. So I literally drove next to her while she attempted to maintain a 7:30 pace, which it seems like she did pretty well. Today we are supposed to run two but we’ll have to see and I’ll get to that in a minute!

So I mentioned a couple weeks ago that another large limb fell from the water oak in the front yard. We asked neighbors about using their chainsaws but one said his was broken and then the other, they’d gone out of town and I never followed up. So we just went ahead and bought one. Actually, Ash and I went to the hardware stores Friday but didn’t find the one he wanted to so, to Amazon we went. It said delivery by Sunday, 10 PM but it was more like AM! So we watched soccer and I made steak, mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob, then as soon as we’d eaten, it was all hands on deck in the front to chop it up.

It felt like a long time/a lot of work but it only took about an hour and a half. The chainsaw was definitely a good purchase; I’m assuming this tree will continue to fall apart this way and it’ll come in handy. Once done, we’d vowed to have some family time in the pool. I don’t know about you all but weekends at my house include seeing my children but it’s rare we are ALL together unless it’s a planned event. They have their own things, you know? So we all got in the pool.

All in all, a nice day. After a bit, the boys got out and Koda had a friend over to keep swimming. We cobbled together some dinner and I never did do the laundry! That’s ok; I still have today to get it done. My plan for the day is to work (when you teach online, there’s not really a holiday) and Koda and I will try to run two miles but yesterday, as the boys and I were carrying a large chunk of wood to the corner, they were a bit careless and it landed on my toes! I think they’re ok, just maybe a bit bruised. There’s no discoloration but they feel stiff. I put lavender and copaiba on them as soon as it happened (essential oils) so that may have helped. We’ll see. I’ll at least try to run as best I can but might have to do some biking instead.

This week is going to be super busy and I need to make sure I work with a list or else I am going to get way behind.

*********

The theme this week is anything that moves you. The other night I was chatting with an online friend I met through music and I asked what she’d been listening to. We came together on heavy metal but she told me yacht rock! So funny. We all head that way at some point don’t we? OK, that’s a big assumption. I’m not sure this song truly is yacht rock but the XM station has been playing it and I dig it!

  1. Sounds like a nice weekend with family time… except for your toes!

Happy Birthday to Elliot. Mmm, Bonefish. And your pollo con queso sounds delish! Now I’m hungry.

  2. Speaking of yacht rock and Sirius/XM, have you heard the xtra channels Yacht Rock Deep Cjuts and Yacht Soul? The former is album cuts from yacht rock artists, the latter are soul tracks that fit the yacht rock vibe. (Yes I resubscribed. Turns out there’s a who’ lot more than I found the first time.) Happy birthday to Elliott, and watch your toes…. Love the J5 cut….

  3. Hope your toes are on the mend! It’s nice to have family all in one place at the same time. My hubs birthday was Sunday and we celebrated with friends here for dinner. It was fun. I have several big things coming up and need to make a list and then use the list. This backyard project has taken over and I’m off my game. Have a great week!

  4. That´s great that you were intentional about spending time with the kids- so true about how you can call be at home but that doesn´t mean you´re spending time together. Your Halloween finds are cute- Alyssa and I used to go to the Dollar Tree and Home Goods in the fall to pick up some Halloween pieces. Alyssa got so into decorating her room. We actually pulled out her Halloween bin when she as here on Sunday and she picked out a few items to take to use in her dorm room. Have a great Tuesday!

  5. Birthday wishes to Elliot! They grow up too quick. What a full weekend y’all had with a mix of fun and work! Have a boogietastic week, my dear!

  6. yacht rock seems to be the rage recently. This song fits right in. You are always busy even when you say you are not. I’m glad that tree is going because it must be dying if the limbs fall. You don’t need the tree to come down on your home.

  7. No Bonefish Grill where I live. My music tastes are all over the place so I am not surprised by you and someone else liking both hard rock and yacht rock. I never did hear this particular song, though. Alana ramblinwitham
