Thursday 13 – The ongoing saga of annoyance

  1. Man, yesterday was… A DAY. It all began with my daughter asking for pancakes and I bashed my toes with the pantry door. Maybe that is where I should have just learned to let things go but it just went downhill from there.
  2. The bus was late, very late. It’s supposed to come at 8:26, though it never has. It typically shows up between 8:35-8:45. I got all ready to run and stood at the stop with my daughter and her friend. I was vigilant because the day before, that bus drove right past them! Well, we waited until 8:50 and enough was enough so we went back to the car. By the time I had them loaded in and had JUST turned out of my driveway, it showed up.
  3. At this point, I was already in a mood so I called that bus compound and gave them what for. Not in a yelling way; more like an explanation. I told the lady that I’ve had a kid riding this same route for four years so I am well aware that this driver has never been on time but the unreliability is becoming too much. The problem is so much larger, seeing as how the buses are run by idiots. She really didn’t have a say, I know, but she said she would tell the route manager. We’ll see what time it comes today; I took Dakota to school for XC practice so the friend’s dad will have to report back.
  4. Anyway, taking them to school put me way behind and when I got home, I was still fuming and did not feel like running at all. So I didn’t. I didn’t change out of my stuff though; I sat down and did some work, then I tried to hop on the stationary bike. Except the seat is too high for me and I could not, for the life of me, figure out how to lower it. UGH! Frustrated, I decided to just take a walk. Oh, but then the AC company called…
  5. That is a whole other debacle. OK, so, we have a zoned unit, which means there’s a little damper arm that opens for upstairs then closes and blows air downstairs. It never blows on both floors at the same time. Well, it’s been sticking lately so last week we called out a local company to check it out. The guy was like, “well it’s working now.” Yeah, I KNOW, but what can we do to stop this from happening? Dumbass. He says we can replace the parts but they’re all cheap plastic now or, he said as he left my house and noticed the mini unit, get that thing working. We have a Mr. Slim in the sunroom that used to work but a mouse chewed through the hosing. The guy says we can run that downstairs and cool that floor, take out the damper entirely, then have it call upstairs more, with a different thermostat. Sounded inefficient to me but we said ok because we figured the mini unit needed to be fixed anyway.
  6. I get them to come back out and they scheduled it for last Tuesday; Ash took the day off. We had an 8 am appt; by 11 they hadn’t shown up so I call, the kind lady tells me she doesn’t know and will have to call back. By 2, they call to say they aren’t coming. So Ash loses a day and he’s not happy. On Wednesday, I am the one home and he comes out to fix it. The guy replaces the electrical wire and secures the unit back into place, since it had pulled out from the wall. He tells me it’s done and I go out to look but the drain hose is still chewed through. He’s like, yeah it’ll keep dripping but that’s ok. And I’m like, that’s an unfinished job, sir. You can’t leave the hose all broken. He sighs, tells me how busy the company is, and then says he can go to Lowes and possibly find a little barb and some clamps. But he doesn’t have a drain hose with him. And I say, yeah, do that since you aren’t done until it’s fixed!
  7. Bro goes to the store, attempts the fix, but it still leaks. He’s clearly annoyed; says he’ll have to find a hose, could be back in a week. Boy is Ash mad. He even spoke to him on the phone but this guy only did one part of this fix. He didn’t even come equipped with all the needed parts!
  8. So Monday I get a call from the office trying to bill me and I told them it’s not done and at this point, I’ll pay them to be done with it and call someone else. This lady tries to tell me I owe 600 bucks. For what? One electrical wire and a screw? No thanks. So I tell her and she says she’ll let them know. Yesterday another guy calls and says he hears I’m “having confusion about paying my bill.” Not how I would word that! I told the guy all this stuff, he listened patiently, and then said he’ll talk to some folks and call me back. I was just annoyed!
  9. I take that walk after all and calm down a bit; but I didn’t Quite feel right. I finally get a shower in and remember I didn’t like the scent of the body wash I have so I dug around for another under the cabinet, squirt it on my loofah, then realize it’s not body wash but lotion! At this point, I’m feeling like the entire world is against me. So I took myself to Chipotle and then proceeded to take a 40 minute nap. I didn’t feel great when I woke up though.
  10. The day was far from over though; had to pick up Dakota and then she had her first meet. She didn’t do as well as we’d hoped so that was a bummer. We rushed home so we didn’t miss our fantasy football draft.
  11. But that was when the day turned around. Koda and Isaac sat at the island and drafted while I made chicken and noodles for them. Had a beer or two then we watched the latest episode of Hard Knocks. I love football and that show; it never fails to make me cry! So yeah, at least the day ended pretty well.
  12. Today is my son’s 17th birthday and I cannot believe I have a kid this old! It seems like just yesterday I was becoming a first time mom. And here we are. Crazy!
  13. Well, I have to go get ready to teach; have to be a bit early because I need to pick up my classroom and office keys. I could keep asking the office to open my doors but I feel bad about it. Anyway, see my little collage for my son below and I’ll catch y’all tomorrow!

  1. oh my goodness! I’m frustrated just reading about your debacle!! We had to have a flooring guy come to check out a place in our hardwood floors. He was supposed to be there at 9:00 on Friday. He called at 8:50 and said time had gotten away from him. He thought it was 8:10 and just realized it was 8:50 . . .anyway, I said I have to meet my daughter-in-law at 10:30 to get something so could they get there before? NOPE . . .so he said they would be there at 10:45 . . . .at 11:21 they showed up. It is just so frustrating to wait and wait. Happy birthday to your son!!

  2. What a frustrating mess. I hope today is better. Happy birthday to your son! He has such a cute smile. 💙
