Random Tuesday – A post to pass some time

  • I definitely did not get as much done on Monday as I had hoped, though did do some stuff. Saw all the kids off to school on day one, put away a bunch of stuff still in the living room after the beer fest, tidied up, washed pool towels, and I ran a couple errands. Generally, I think I allowed myself to be a bit slow on my first day of the new normal. I also treated myself to Chipotle, which I love but never get.
  • Kids all had good first days, it seems like. I made pan-seared chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans for dinner – which they all liked – then Dakota and I went to the Dollar Tree. It was a nice evening all in all.
  • You know, considering I wasn’t but a casual Buffy fan, every couple years my tendencies towards Spuffy get reignited. My YouTube randomly suggested this seriously long, in-depth look at why season 6 is actually good and since that’s my favorite, I gave it a watch. Now I miss the way tv used to be and also, that relationship was awesome. I guess I’ll just always ship Buffy and spike in my own weird way.
  • So today, I must get more done. So far, I have checked off a few items from the list, and it is only just shy of 8 am! I’m going to run this morning once I feel good about the girls getting on the bus. Also, why does middle school have to start so late?? I hate that they don’t even leave until 8:45. I used to get to work at 7:30; think about how much work could have been done in that much time!
  • OK, a bit later now and the bus was actually a little more on time today so I got about a 2 mile run in, showered, and now I am grading papers. I really need to get back into this mode but I am finding myself constantly feeling like I am getting tripped up. I guess lists and prioritizing are going to come in handy!

  1. Glad the kids´ first day of school went well! Our school district has odd start times. Grades 6-12 start at 7:20. It is crazy early and almost everyone has to leave the house super early to avoid traffic issues. Our town is small but the three buildings that house grades 6-12 are built near our historic downtown that can´t be widened; most people in the district need to drive through the downtown to get to the schools. Most high school kids in our neighborhood (about two miles from the high school) who drive to school leave the house no later than 6:50. Way too early!
